Millennium Media has revealed a first look at Matilda Lutz as the titular character in the upcoming Red Sonja comic book movie.
Below you can check out the high-res image which features Matilda Lutz with red hair, a sword, and armor, which is a look right from the Dynamite Comics which the flick is based on.
âThis has been a hard secret to keep. Iâm so beyond grateful, Iâve cried from joy a bunch of times these past months, what I get to do in this lifetime is just incredible. Thank you for this crazy journey,â Lutz posted on Instagram when the casting was announced.
A week ago Lutz also posted a behind-the-scenes image.
âMaking sense of my past, bringing peace to the present, creating a vision for the future. GRATITUDE. I am infinitely thankful @emjaybassett for such an incredible journey. If itâs a dream donât wake me up. Even when itâs raining and freezing,â she said on Instagram.
Director M.J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) also shared a set image on Instagram adding, âCelebrating the first morning on a new set. Always exciting to see how all the planning and meetings finally come together into a physical space for the actors and camera. Sometimes itâs exactly what you expect, sometimes itâs quite a surprise.â
Red Sonja is s currently filming at the Bulgarian Nu Boyana Studio, with additional filming taking place at the Greek Nu Boyana Studio scheduled for later in the month.
The film also stars Robert Sheehan from Netflixâs The Umbrella Academy as Draygan, and Wallis Day of Sex/Life is playing Red Sonjaâs wicked half-sister, Annisia.
Additional casting includes Michael Bisping as Hawk, Martyn Ford as General Karlak, Eliza Matengu as Amarak, Manal El Feitury as Ayala, and Katrina Durden as Saevus.
The script is by Joey Soloway (Transparent) and Tasha Huo (Netflixâs Tomb Raider).
