Asa Butterfield was on our list to play Spider-Man; the actor stated he wanted to play Spider-Man; Butterfield was named among the top five choices, and now it’s said Asa Butterfield is the frontrunner to play Marvel’s new Wall Crawler.
According to Latino Review, Asa Butterfield is Marvel and Sony’s favorite to play Spider-Man, with it said Marvel had Butterfield on the top of their list since day one.
It’s also been said we’ll find out the identity of the actor playing Spider-Man by June as that is when Marvel will need Spider-Man for filming on Captain America: Civil War for the May 2016 release, which will be followed by the Sony standalone film in 2017.
Marvel has already let it be known the new Spider-Man will be Peter Parker set in high school, and that they already have the new Spider-Man costume ready.
