Steven Spielberg To Direct Ready Player One For WB

Following a 14-year absence from Warner Bros., it’s reported Steven Spielberg will be directing the adaptation of the popular Ernest Cline science-fiction novel, Ready Player One.

Christopher Nolan was at one time rumored to direct the movie, but now Deadline reports it is Spielberg’s gig.

“We are thrilled to welcome Steven back to Warner Bros,” said Greg Silverman, the studio’s President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production. “We had an historic series of collaborations in the 1980s and 1990s and have wanted to bring him back for years.”

Interestingly enough, the Ready Player One book mentions Spielberg and his films as references are made to Spielberg, E.T and Indiana Jones.

Ready Player One looks to be a big-budget special effects spectacle as the movie deals with the virtual world with it said the movie will make the “audience feel like they were dropped into the middle of a video game.”
