Avengers: Doomsday: Chris Hemsworth Teases Thor’s Comeback

With filming on Avengers: Doomsday officially underway, Chris Hemsworth teases his return as Thor who was last seen in the MCU in 2022’s Love and Thunder.

Avengers training

Hemsworth posted video of himself on Instagram punching, kneeing and training with a heavy bag.

“A little Avengers pre game warm up, coming in hot,” he said.

Band is back together

Hemsworth’s stunt double, Bobby Holland Hanton, also posted a pic with Hemsworth on social media, noting, “The dream team are back.”

Hanton has performed stunts for Hemsworth in the Extraction movies, Thor: Love and Thunder, Avengers: Endgame, Infinity War, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Age of Ultron, where he also performed stuns as Chris Evans’ Captain America, Thor: The Dark World, Hemsworth’s Snow White and the Huntsman, and Hanton did stunts in Captain America: The First Avenger.

Thor vs Doctor Doom?

Chris Hemsworth was named as one of the 27-member cast of Avengers: Doomsday. If it’s at all similar to the Secret Wars comics, Hemsworth may be suiting up as Thor to battle the other teams, which includes the X-Men. Of course, Robert Downey Jr. is returning as Doctor Doom, wo maybe we’ll see Doom vs Thor!

It also remains to be seen whether or not Hemsworth’s Thor sports the long hair or the short hair.

Avengers: Doomsday gets released on May 1, 2026 directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

Thor 5 Rumored With Chris Hemsworth & George Miller

What about Thor 5?

It’s been claimed that Thor 5 is happening, and even that Hemsworth’s Furiosa director, George Miller, may direct.

It’s assumed if Thor 5 does happen that it will take a different approach than Love and Thunder which many fans thought was a big disappointment.

Even Hemsworth has said he wants a different approach to Thor, which is speculated to be going back to the badass approach that made the character popular.

“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” he told Vanity Fair in an interview. “I didn’t stick the landing.”

Hemsworth also previously told Variety, “I think we just had too much fun. It just became too silly.”
