Watch: Jason Momoa Says Goodbye To Aquaman: Lobo Not Confirmed

Jason Momoa says goodbye to Aquaman as the DCEU officially ends this weekend following more than ten years of development. The star also says Lobo isn’t a done deal.

Zack Snyder started developing the DCEU back in 2010 when he began work on Man of Steel.

January 30, 2011 would see the official announcement about Henry Cavill playing Superman, and thus the Snyder Verse began.

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen,” said Snyder in a statement at the time. “I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry.  He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”

King of DC

At the time, Zack Snyder had also cast Jason Momoa as Aquaman, though Momoa had to keep the role secret for three years. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice would be released in 2016 and Aquaman was born. The version would be much different than the comics, a much cooler version thanks to Momoa who brought a lot of himself to the character.

Jason Momoa would go on to star in the Aquaman film released in 2018 and much like the titular character would become the king of DC, holding the title as the highest-grossing DC movie of all time, even surpassing Christopher Nolan’s Batman The Dark Knight Trilogy movies.

Next would be the two Justice League films and to cap things off is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom this weekend which sees Momoa reteam with director James Wan one last time along with Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and yes, even Amber Heard.

“Its been a long journey”

At a recent fan screening and also speaking with Fandango, Jason Momoa said his goodbyes to Aquaman.

Regarding Lobo? While it has been heavily speculated and even rumored that Jason Momoa as Lobo is a done deal, the actor says he is still waiting on the call but if it ever happens — it’s a big f’k yeah.

“Lobo, I used to collect comics. I don’t do so much anymore but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo because I’m like ‘hello, it’s it’s a perfect role.’ I mean listen, if they call me and ask me to play it, it’s a f’k yeah but I mean that’s a guarantee so you don’t have to worry about that. But you know I haven’t received that call so I don’t want to put any fake news out there but if they ever call me and ask me to play or ask me to audition, I’m there
But we need it now. We need it more than ever.”
