Spider-Man Brand New Day: Mark Ruffalo Back As Hulk, Michael Mando As Scorpion

Confirming the rumors, with filming starting Friday in the UK, Marvel Studios confirms Mark Ruffalo is back as the Hulk for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. That’s not all. Michael Mando is returning as Scorpion.

What are the details?

The details via the trades include that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will battle it out with Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man and Jon Bernthal‘s Punisher before figuring out who the true villain of the movie really is.

What are the Spider-Man: Brand New Day rumors?

Previous rumors have said Ruffalo will be back as the Savage Hulk, dropping the goofy Smart Hulk persona last seen in She-Hulk.

Michael Mando played Mac Gargan, aka Scorpion, first in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Maybe he’ll suit up fully as the Spidey villain this time around.

Rumors have also offered Steven Yeun could be playing a villain role, along with Sara Snook. Rumored villains also include Boomerang, Tombstone, and Tarantula. Another rumor offers Lady Chameleon may be the main villain.

Now in production

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is said to start filming Friday in the UK, possibly involving a big Punisher scene. Fans also think a new suit reveal could happen if Holland is seen on set in costume as Spidey. Sony officially teased the costume.

Release info

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026 directed by Shang-Chi‘s Destin Daniel Cretton.

Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are also returning. Newcomers include Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas in unknown roles.

“We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man because being Peter Parker was too hard. So that’s what the movie is about,” producer Amy Pascal said in a recent interview.
