The Marvels Box Office Suffers Worst MCU Drop

The Marvels Box Office Suffers Worst MCU Drop

Fans continue avoiding Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and The Marvels as if they are the plague as the flick has now scored the worst second-weekend drop not only in MCU history but in the entire history of comic book movies.

The Marvels has dropped a massive 77.9% in its second weekend and only brought in $10.2 million, which is well under the estimates. Sony’s Morbius was the previous record holder with a 73.8% drop.

Update: The drop is larger than first reported.

The daily numbers also continue to crumble and are the worst numbers for an MCU film as well.

The second weekend box office is a lot lower than any of the MCU films with a low box office including the second weekends of Ant-Man ($24.9) and Eternals ($26.8).

The number is also lower than DC’s The Flash ($15M), Blue Beetle ($12M), and Birds of Prey ($17M) in their second weekend.

At almost a cost of $300 million, it’s likely the flick will lose close to $200 million. Expect the number of theaters the film is screening in to drop substantially.

The Marvels is now expected to end its theatrical run earning around $210M-$240M worldwide, another MCU low.
