First Look At Zelda Movie: Leaked Set Videos Show Link and Zelda

The Legend of Zelda live-action movie just had its first real look hit the internet thanks to leaked set footage out of New Zealand.

The behind-the-scenes clips offer a glimpse of the production in action, with actors in costume, horses on set, and a full crew moving through a forest location.

The leaked footage shows a blonde actress in a blue medieval-style dress believed to be Bo Bragason as Zelda, alongside what appears to be Benjamin Evan Ainsworth’s Link, dressed in a green tunic with a leather chest strap.

The setting, deep in the New Zealand wilderness, fits the fantasy tone expected of a Zelda adaptation.

Update: Nintendo has released the first official images of Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link.

Zelda Film Now in Production

The Zelda movie, a joint production between Nintendo and Sony Pictures, is currently filming under the direction of Wes Ball (The Maze Runner, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes). Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad are producing. These set leaks come days after Miyamoto officially confirmed Bragason and Ainsworth in the lead roles.

The clips add weight to the project’s progress following its recently shifted release date. The movie will now hit theaters on May 7, 2027.

Zelda’s Film Look Stays Close to the Games

While the footage is unofficial and low-quality, the costumes appear to stay close to the aesthetic fans expect from Zelda. The presence of horses, forest paths, and what looks like a practical set rather than a green-screen-heavy stage suggests the filmmakers are leaning into the natural, grounded environments the franchise is known for.

Expectations are high. After the Super Mario Bros. Movie delivered big results for Nintendo at the box office, the Zelda film now has to prove it can match that level of success in a more serious, live-action format.
