Shia LaBeouf may be rejoining Michael Bay for the Transformers reboot.
A fan who met Shia LaBeouf at a recent convention shared a longer recount of their exchange. They said they told LaBeouf to “keep making awesome movies,” and he replied, “more of these.” When the fan pointed to their Transformers shirt and asked, “Wait… this franchise? You’re coming back?” LaBeouf reportedly smiled and said, “I’m working on it.”
The fan stressed that LaBeouf wasn’t making anything official — describing it as having “irons in the fire” and “very early stuff,” the kind of thing that could still change — but noted the moment was genuine enough to give longtime fans some real hope.
Bay in Africa, Reboot Heating Up
Michael Bay has recently been scouting locations in Africa for his next movie, and many believe it’s tied to the rumored Transformers reboot.
The trades previously reported Bay approached Paramount with a new idea for the franchise, and that one of three scripts under review by Skydance involves his return.
The timing of Bay’s trip and LaBeouf’s comment appears to line up.
Not a Clean Reboot?
LaBeouf last appeared in Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2011.
If he’s involved, the new film may not be a total reset but could continue or build upon the original trilogy. That approach would align with Skydance’s push for legacy-driven IPs and established names that appeal to global audiences.
