Paramount Confirms More Transformers Coming Soon at CinemaCon Amid Michael Bay Return Rumors

Paramount Confirms More Transformers Coming Soon at CinemaCon Amid Michael Bay Return Rumors

Paramount is teasing more Transformers is on the way.

According to Deadline on X, Paramount leaders said at their CinemaCon presentation that “CALL OF DUTY, More STAR TREK, and More TRANSFORMERS” are coming soon.

No other details were announced.

What Paramount said at CinemaCon

Paramount used CinemaCon to make clear it is still investing in Transformers as a theatrical property, even if the studio is not ready to name a director, cast, story, or release date.

That likely means Paramount is still sorting out what the next movie actually looks like, which would not be surprising considering how many different directions the franchise has taken over the years.

Michael Bay return rumors are still out there

The CinemaCon tease also lands as rumors continue to swirl that Michael Bay could return to the franchise he launched in 2007.

Reports and fan-site chatter have pointed to Bay being in the mix for a new Transformers movie, though Paramount has not confirmed any of it.

Rumors have said that Bay was in talks with Paramount to helm a new installment, but again, nothing official has been announced by the studio.

Shia LaBeouf Reportedly Back for Transformers Reboot

Shia LaBeouf rumored for return

The same goes for the Shia LaBeouf talk.

Rumors have linked LaBeouf to a possible return as Sam Witwicky, but that also remains unconfirmed.

The speculation got louder after fan chatter and online reports claimed LaBeouf suggested he was “working on it,” but there has been no official casting news from Paramount.

A quick history of the franchise

Bay’s first Transformers movie hit in 2007 and turned the brand into a massive live-action blockbuster series. He went on to direct Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in 2009, Dark of the Moon in 2011, Age of Extinction in 2014, and The Last Knight in 2017.

Shia LaBeouf starred in the first three films as Sam Witwicky before the series shifted away from his character. After Bay stepped away, Paramount tried a softer reset with Bumblebee in 2018, followed by Transformers: Rise of the Beasts in 2023.

This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the release of the animated Transformers: The Movie.
