Warner Bros. has now officially confirmed David Corenswet is starring in Supergirl, confirming what I previously told you.
Word about Corenswet comes via Warner Bros. having updated its official Supergirl production announcement.
An earlier version listed Milly Alcock, Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, and Emily Beecham.
The new version adds David Corenswet to the cast lineup, making Corenswet’s involvement official.
That lines up with what I was told at WonderCon and what later got backed up by World of Reel.
Confirms the rumors
For weeks, the chatter has been that more Superman had been added to the film, especially following test screenings and reshoots (yes, the same Superman that Gunn has Krypto pissing on).
That was the word I got at WonderCon, and it was later echoed by World of Reel. Now Warner Bros. has effectively confirmed what I was told in black and white.
Back in March, I reported that the latest Supergirl rumors matched what I had already heard at WonderCon.
More Corenswet Superman added
The word was that more David Corenswet as Superman had been added, along with more Jason Momoa as Lobo. World of Reel also reported that the newest cut included additional Clark Kent and Superman scenes.
So this update from Warner Bros. is a big one because it takes Corenswet’s role out of rumor territory and puts it into official studio confirmation.
It also makes it sound as if Corenswet is possibly more than just a cameo, or at the least, gives Supergirl another big name to add to Momoa’s Lobo.
Supergirl needs a testosterone boost
It’s no secret Supergirl hasn’t exactly been turning heads.
Much like Madame Web and The Marvels, Supergirl isn’t attracting the Barbie crowd, and the audience of those two flicks was actually made up mostly of male fans, but only the tiny amount of diehard comic fans who see everything.
As I previously said about Jason Momoa’s Lobo, it now applies to Corenswet, as the film and the marketing can now use Superman for some much-needed testosterone.
Supergirl release date and cast
Supergirl hits theaters and IMAX in North America on June 26, 2026, with international release beginning June 24, 2026. Craig Gillespie directs from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.
The official synopsis teases: When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice.
