A new film tracking chart making the rounds via Puck News offers an early look at how audiences are responding to a batch of upcoming releases, including titles that should stand out to genre fans.
Relevant to Cosmic Book News readers, the chart includes Mortal Kombat II, The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Masters of the Universe.
The numbers come from The Quorum‘s eight-week-out tracking and measure two things: awareness, meaning how many people know about the movie, and interest, meaning how many say they want to see it.

Mortal Kombat II Leads The Pack
Out of the three, Mortal Kombat II looks the strongest right now (out May 8, 2026).
The chart gives Mortal Kombat II an awareness score of 50 and an interest score of 52. That means not only do plenty of people already know it is coming, but interest is also slightly higher than awareness, which is a good sign. The interest score also rose by 2 points over the prior two weeks.
That suggests the sequel already has a solid base and is connecting with moviegoers better than a lot of the other titles on the list.

The Mandalorian and Grogu Holds Steady
The Mandalorian and Grogu comes in with an awareness score of 47 and an interest score of 48 (out May 22, 2026).
That is a respectable result and puts the Star Wars movie just behind Mortal Kombat II in this group. Awareness rose by 5 points and interest ticked up by 2, which points to steady momentum.
The big takeaway is that the brand is still doing the heavy lifting. People know what it is, and interest is there, but it is not exploding in this chart. It looks more stable than breakout.

Masters of the Universe Shows Interest But Needs More Reach
Masters of the Universe has the weakest awareness of the three, with a 37 score, but its interest score is a stronger 43 (out June 5, 2026).
That is actually one of the more interesting reveals in the chart. It tells you the movie may not be fully breaking through to general audiences yet, but the people who do know about it seem pretty into it.
The concern is that both scores dipped over the prior two weeks, with awareness down 4 and interest down 1. So while there is clear interest, it looks like the movie still needs a bigger push to expand beyond the core audience.

What The Chart Reveals
The biggest reveal here is that Mortal Kombat II appears to be in the best shape early, at least among these three fan-driven titles. It has the best combination of awareness and interest.
The Mandalorian and Grogu looks dependable, which is probably what Disney wants, but the chart does not suggest a huge breakout at this stage.
Masters of the Universe may have sleeper potential. Its awareness is lower, but the interest score being higher than the awareness score says the concept is landing with the people paying attention.
The numbers could also change fast if marketing starts to hit, for example, this week with all the CinemaCon promotions.
