Rick and Morty Season 9 officially has a premiere date, as Adult Swim announced the new episodes begin Sunday, May 24 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.
The network is bringing back its biggest series with another batch of episodes starring Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith, while teasing a season it says is bigger and more ambitious than before.
Adult Swim teases bigger Season 9
Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen hyped up the new season in the announcement and said the show keeps raising the bar.
“I know it’s my job to say that this show just keeps topping itself, but it also has the benefit of being true,” Ouweleen said. “It’s kind of scary what this show unit is doing season over season—just pouring an absurd amount of talent and brilliance into these episodes.”
He also said fans can expect “great high-concept insanity” along with some of the best character writing the series has delivered.

Official Season 9 description released
Adult Swim also included the official description for the new season, which keeps the same offbeat tone fans expect from Rick and Morty.
“Rick and Morty is back, baby! Season Nine is all certified bangers. No AI slop! Just Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts. Please watch, or we’ll have neglected our families for nothing.”
A new clip from Season 9 will also debut on Adult Swim’s social channels on March 12.
Rick and Morty remains a major hit
According to the press release, Rick and Morty was the No. 1 comedy across all of cable during Seasons 3, 4, 5, and 6. The animated series has also won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.
Season 9 stars Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer. Dan Harmon and Scott Marder executive produce, with Marder also serving as showrunner.
Global rollout and streaming release
Adult Swim says Rick and Morty Season 9 will debut in more than 170 countries and in 42 languages.
In the U.S., new episodes will be available to buy on digital platforms the day after they air on Adult Swim. The full season will then begin streaming in the U.S. on August 31.
