Grand Theft Auto VI has been delayed six months, pushing one of the biggest releases in gaming into late 2026. Rockstar confirmed the news on social media, giving fans a new date and a brief explanation for the shift.
Rockstar Confirms New Release Date
Rockstar says Grand Theft Auto VI will now launch on Thursday, November 19, 2026, when previously it was scheduled for May 26, 2026. The studio apologized for the change, saying the team needs more time to hit the standard players expect from the franchise.
“Hi everyone, Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

Why the Delay Matters
This delay bumps GTA VI out of its original 2026 window and places it deep into the holiday season.
Rockstar titles already dominate attention, and the move signals the studio isn’t ready to compromise on quality, even with the pressure around the game’s massive hype.
