The rumor mill has been running wild about Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool joining the Avengers in Marvel’s upcoming crossover films following that social media post.
But the latest reports paint a murkier picture. Marvel Studios also hasn’t confirmed anything.

Deadline vs. THR: Conflicting Reports
According to Deadline, sources say Reynolds hasn’t been seen on set in London, where Avengers: Doomsday is currently filming. They add he isn’t scheduled to appear in either of the next two Avengers movies:
Sources tell us that they haven’t seen Reynolds on set in London, and he isn’t set to appear in the next two Avengers movie.
But The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision claims otherwise, with sources telling them Deadpool will show up in Avengers: Doomsday — though fans shouldn’t expect Wade Wilson to officially join the Avengers team:
Sources tell Heat Vision that yes, Deadpool will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. (Don’t expect him to actually be joining the Avengers team, though.)
Deadline and THR are actually owned by the same company, so both not being on the same page with their insider info raises an eyebrow or two.

The Tease That Started It
Speculation exploded after Reynolds posted an image combining the Avengers “A” logo with the anarchist symbol, fueling the idea that Deadpool could be stepping into Marvel’s biggest franchise.
That followed the billion-dollar success of Deadpool & Wolverine, making Deadpool Marvel’s most bankable character in years.

Reynolds’ Own Words
Interestingly, Reynolds has previously said he doesn’t want Deadpool to become an Avenger:
“If Deadpool becomes an Avenger or an X-Men, we’re at the end. That’s his wish fulfillment, and you can’t give him that for a long time.”
That suggests if Wade Wilson does appear in Avengers: Doomsday, it’ll be more of a cameo or supporting role than a full team-up, which lines up with what THR says above.

What It Means for the MCU
- If Deadline is right, Deadpool could sit out Marvel’s two-part Phase 6 finale, despite fan hype.
- If THR is right, expect him to pop up in Doomsday without actually becoming part of the Avengers lineup.
- Reynolds is also said to be developing a new MCU project for Deadpool, with fans speculating Uncanny X-Force
We can also add that Kevin Feige’s post-Endgame approach has been a complete failure, so it seems likely that Feige would want to bring back the big guns – including Deadpool and Wolverine – for Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Robert Downey Jr. is back and it’s said Chris Evans is back, too.
