No surprise, but just like his Superman movie, the Supergirl flick is is dropping its subtitle, “Woman of Tomorrow.”
Gunn’s originally titled his new Man of Steel movie “Superman: Legacy,” but now it’s just Superman.
It’s the same for Supergirl.
What did James Gunn say?
In an interview with Rolling Stone, the outlet points out that Supergirl is no longer called Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Gunn confirmed:
“I think it’s just called Supergirl.“
He goes on to explain why they dropped the “Legacy” subtitle from Superman:
“I’m sick of the superhero title, colon, other-name thing. And then also it seemed to be looking back when we’re looking forward, even though it does have to do with legacy in the movie itself. And everybody was like, ‘Oh, yeah, no, change it.’”
Gunn also confirmed he was on the Supergirl set just at the beginning of filming and that he feels it’s a good movie:
” And we’ve been really lucky so far, because Supergirl’s script was so fucking good off the bat.”
