Apple Original Films dropped the teaser for The Lost Bus, an intense new thriller starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera. The film is based on the real-life 2018 Camp Fire in Paradise, California, and follows a school bus driver and teacher who fight to save 22 children trapped in the chaos.
Based on a True Story
The Lost Bus is adapted from Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire by journalist Lizzie Johnson. Jamie Lee Curtis brought the story to Blumhouse Productions after hearing Johnson discuss it on NPR. Johnson also serves as executive producer.

McConaughey, Ferrera Lead the Cast
McConaughey plays the driver, while Ferrera portrays a teacher working alongside him as the fire closes in. The cast also includes Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson, and Spencer Watson.
Behind the Camera
Paul Greengrass (United 93, Captain Phillips) directs. He co-wrote the script with Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby. The film is produced by Ingelsby, Jason Blum, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Gregory Goodman.
Coming This Fall
The Lost Bus hits select theaters and Apple TV+ in fall 2025. Apple is positioning the film as both a rescue thriller and a look at community survival during one of the country’s worst disasters.
