Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Officially Announced: Trailer, Setting, and What’s Coming

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has been officially confirmed by Activision, continuing the story straight from Black Ops 6. For the first time in franchise history, the series is getting back-to-back releases. The game is set 40 years later, in 2035, a chaotic future shaped by the fallout of Black Ops 2 and 6.

This time, David Mason leads a new Black Ops team against an enemy that uses psychological warfare and fear as weapons. Treyarch and Raven Software call it the “most mind-bending Black Ops ever.”

A New Chapter in the Black Ops Timeline

The campaign will take place in a near-future environment and will feature:

  • A solo or co-op campaign
  • Near-future weapons and tech
  • Multiplayer with brand-new maps
  • Round-based Zombies in the Dark Aether storyline

The developers are positioning Black Ops 7 as a full package across all modes, building on fan interest and the continuity of the Black Ops sub-series.

Official Teaser Drops, Full Reveal Coming Later

The announcement came with an official teaser cinematic. Marketing head Tyler Bahl says the teaser sets the tone and that more surprises and clues will drop before the full reveal later this summer. Watch below.

“The team is looking to build on the incredible community enthusiasm and excitement we’ve seen within the Black Ops universe,” said Bahl in the announcement. “This is the first time we’re staying within the Black Ops series with back-to-back releases, so we’re excited to give players a bit more time to enjoy all the live seasons and provide players more of what they want across Black Ops 6 and Call of Duty: Warzone before we turn the page to Black Ops 7.”

This marks a strategic shift from the ’90s themes of the last game to a new 2035 setting, and Activision is keeping the momentum going between titles with added support for live seasons and Warzone integration.

“Today is only the beginning with this first teaser. The full reveal of Black Ops 7 is coming later this summer, so the community should be on the lookout for teases, clues and the surprises that the Black Ops series is known for,” added Bahl. “It’s an exciting time as we prepare for a new Call of Duty reveal, and the next great experience to come.”
