If you thought the first episode of Season 2 was woke AF, just wait — in a new interview, series star Bella Ramsey goes off about Trump, online trolls, climate activism, and even the Hollywood industry that pays her millions to star in the show.

Bella Ramsey has a “green rider”
Get this — in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter about The Last of Us Season 2, it’s revealed that Bella Ramsey, who uses pronouns (editor’s note: we don’t), has woke demands baked into her contract. While most actors request luxuries in what’s called a “rider,” Ramsey’s version — a so-called “green rider” — requires productions to follow strict sustainability rules, like using electric vehicles and cutting down on food and material waste. Ramsey explained:
“It covers every department, and the producers have to adhere to certain things and so does the actor. Both parties have to be accountable for being sustainability-conscious throughout the shoot. Making sustainable choices on set should be built into the very fabric of the production because it’s not that difficult.”

Green pilled at a young age
The article says Ramsey got “green pilled” at a young age after noticing hotter summers and less snow in her native U.K., which led her to study environmental science:
“I’ve only been alive 21 years and I’ve noticed such a shift with the effects of climate change.”

F-bomb over Trump
Regarding Donald Trump, she drops an f-bomb over Trump withdrawing the U.S. from the Paris Agreement, which she says is “quite terrifying”:
“Can I swear in this [story]? We’re fucking ourselves over. The planet will be OK. We won’t be.”
“I understand the feeling of hopelessness, and I’ve also felt it. But I think that a way of wrestling with that is to implement the small changes in your own life. And if the big policymakers aren’t going to do anything, at least we, as a global community, can try. And with all of these small changes that we make, millions of small changes have a large impact.”

Hollywood not woke enough
She also lays into Hollywood for not being progressive enough:
“I come to L.A. and I see fridges full of plastic water bottles and I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’ It’s bizarre to me. I don’t know if any industry is particularly doing enough, but Hollywood is an industry which has a lot of influence.”

Avoids Twitter and Reddit
Regarding the online trolls, she quit social media, particularly Reddit and Twitter, and hasn’t looked back:
“I always knew that I’d [deactivate] it one day and never even really wanted to have social media in the first place. It wasn’t like this big dramatic thing, but there was an element of it that was thinking about the show coming out for season two. If I just avoid Twitter and Reddit, which now I’m doing, then everything’s totally fine.”
Backlash to new season
The first two episodes of The Last of Us Season 2 have also seen massive backlash, which primarily looks to be about the exit of Pedro Pascal. The Rotten Tomatoes fan score has seen a big drop from Season 1, a fan score of 87%, to only 55% for the first two episodes of Season 2, which is considered “rotten.”
