Colman Domingo Shuts Down Kang Marvel Rumors

Colman Domingo Doesn't Want To Play Kang In The MCU

Colman Domingo addresses the rumors he is up play Kang the Conqueror and replace Jonathan Majors in the MCU. Majors exited the role following Quantumania and his legal troubles. Various reports have said the big failure of Quantumania is the real reason the MCU is not continuing with Kang. We can also add that Loki Season 2 wrapped up Kang’s arc in a satisfying way.

What did Colman Domingo say?

Domingo filled Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he has had talks with Marvel but says he doesn’t want to play Kang:

“I think there had been conversations of me coming to Marvel in some way. So we [Domingo and his PR team] did follow up with a sit-down meeting with the heads of Marvel. So we did do that, and we talked openly about the landscape of Marvel or even the Kang rumors. But I feel like I want a role to be mine, whatever that role is, whatever I develop. Something didn’t feel right of me, like, ‘Oh, would I replace someone?’ No, I want to build something from the ground up that’s my own.

I feel like that was never a conversation from my point of view, if I was discussed [to take over Kang]. I still don’t know if I was discussed, but I just know that I would want to build something up from the ground up. So, there’s still talks.”

Jonathan Majors Found Not Guilty

Jonathan Majors not returning as Kang

A recent rumor has even said Jonathan Majors is returning as Kang, but TMZ was quick to shoot that down. TMZ reported multiple sources with direct knowledge state that Majors has not had any talks with Marvel for a return. It’s further said that Marvel is not even considering bringing Jonathan Majors back into the MCU.

Who is the next MCU big bad?

With Marvel moving away from Kang, the next MCU big bad is Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU, but not as Iron Man as Tony Stark, as Doctor Doom, said to be from the multiverse, possibly the same world as the Fantastic Four.

Marvel announced last summer at Comic-Con that Robert Downey Jr. is returning as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The Russos are also returning. There is speculation Robert Downey Jr. might actually first appear in this summer’s big The Fantastic Four: The First Steps, out July 25.
