A big rumor claims that Marvel will be introducing Ghost Rider in Avengers: Doomsday which will feature the return of Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU, but not as Tony Stark, as Doctor Doom.
What does the rumor say?
The rumors comes via the Apocalyptic Horseman on X who claims Ghost Rider will have a big role in Avengers: Doomsday:
I see a lot of talk about Ghost Rider and yeah it’s actually happening. No idea about a solo project or Midnight Sons or which Ghost Rider it is but the plan is to introduce him in a big role in Doomsday
The account apparently has access to casting call sheets, as back in September, the account said Damson Idris is in talks for Children of Blood and Bone which has since been confirmed by Variety a few days ago.
Nicolas Cage back as Ghost Rider?
In December, scooper Daniel RPK has claimed Nicolas Cage will be back as Ghost Rider from the Sony movies:
“If you remember, I was the first to report that Wesley Snipes would reprise his role as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine. Now, I can confirm that Nic Cage will reprise his role as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider in an upcoming project. I don’t know which one just yet, but there aren’t many options left.”
What has Marvel said?
Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, actually said he wants the Dan Ketch version of Ghost Rider in the MCU. While speaking with Collider last September, Winderbaum was asked if he could green light any series, which would it be, and Winderbaum responded Ghost Rider:
“I would wanna do the Danny Ketch era of Ghost Rider. I think there are a lot of people who would be here for some Ghost Rider.”
If Ghost Rider does make his way to Avengers: Doomsday, it could very well be Nicolas Cage as part of the Multiverse. Maybe down the road the Dan Ketch version will then appear in the MCU following Secret Wars?
Avengers: Doomsday gets released on May 1, 2026.
