'Until Dawn' Movie Trailer Shows Off Twisted Survival Horror

Sony Pictures and PlayStation Studios have released the first trailer for Until Dawn, an adaptation of the popular video game. The movie follows Clover, played by Ella Rubin, as she and her friends face a relentless nightmare in a remote valley.

Plot Overview

One year after her sister Melanie vanished, Clover and her friends venture into the same desolate area in search of answers. Their investigation leads them to an abandoned visitor center, where a masked killer begins hunting them down. But the terror doesn’t end with death. Each time they are killed, the group wakes up back at the beginning of the same night, forced to relive the horror.

Each iteration of the night brings a new, more terrifying threat, and the group soon learns they have a limited number of lives left. Their only hope for survival lies in making it until dawn.

Trailer Highlights

The trailer sets a tense, eerie tone with Clover determined to find her missing sister. The group stumbles into a cycle of death and resurrection, with each “reset” introducing a new killer and escalating danger.

Fans of the game will recognize the survival mechanics and psychological twists, while the film promises fresh takes on the story to keep audiences guessing.

Gary Dauberman, writer and producer, said in the recent featurette: “As a huge fan of the Until Dawn game and how cinematic it was, I thought a lot about how we can continue the story without just giving the audience the same experience that they got when they were playing.”

Sandberg said: “The movie has sort of the same tone and the same vibe but it expands upon the universe. One of the creative things the game did is that people make different choices and die in different ways. The movie has this mechanic where things start over and then they get to try again. Every time they come back to life, it’s like they’re in anew horror genre. To survive they have to make it until dawn.”

Release Information

Until Dawn gets released on April 25, 2025 in theaters.
