Helldivers and Helldivers 2 are video games from Arrowhead Game Studios. The games are in part inspired by Starship Troopers, which is a cult-classic movie and first published as a novel. Helldivers 2 features Super Earth defending democracy against the bugs called Terminids and robots called Automatons. A recent update saw the return of the aliens from the first game known as the Illuminates. It’s basically Starship Troopers meets Terminator meets War of the Worlds.
The movie should be pretty fun. Recently saw the creative director of the game shoot down the concept of woke DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) being used in games, so hopefully, Arrowhead retains some kind of creative control so Sony Pictures doesn’t screw it up. Too often what happens is bozo Hollywood producers get it in their heads to go in a new direction instead of sticking with what works.
