As suspected, Creature Commandos offers a first look at James Gunn’s DCU Batman who is first said to be appearing in live-action form in the Brave and the Bold movie that pairs him with the Damian Wayne Robin.
Episode 4 of the Creature Commandos animated series is now streaming on Max and reveals the full vision Circe gives to Waller which was first teased in the season preview (read my full review here).
Note: Spoilers follow.
Circe’s vision to Waller
The end of Episode 3 saw Circe captured and defeated. The start of Episode 4 sees Circe back in the United States at Bella Reve prison where she is being interrogated by Waller.
While Waller has Circe’s hands in binds, she can’t use her spells, but Circe also has the ability to see the future, clairvoyance. As teased at the end of Episode 3, Circe said she was attacking Pokolistan to kill Princess Ilana and save the world. Circe offers Waller a chance to see her vision. Waller accepts.
DCU Justice League defeated: it’s the end of the world as we know it
The vision is seemingly of World War 3 and the end of the world. The vision shows Princess Ilana teaming up with a first look at the DCU’s Gorilla Grodd where they bring the world to its knees. Nuclear bombs are set off, Ilana has a huge army, she sits in the office of the president at the White House.
She laughs as the David Corenswet Superman is shown seemingly bloody and dead on a cross. The rest of the DCU Justice League are there next to him including the yet-to-be-cast DCU Wonder Woman, and the yet-to-be cast DCU Batman. They’ve all been slaughtered at the hands of Ilana and Grodd’s army.
What’s next for the DCU Batman?
The live-action Batman is currently being developed with the Brave and the Bold movie. However, Gunn’s most recent update about the DCU Dark Knight made it seem as if it could be a ways out, as Gunn, apparently isn’t quite yet happy with the script.
While speaking recently with Josh Horowitz about the Superman movie, Gunn reiterated his stance that he won’t greenlight any project unless there’s a script he’s fully satisfied with:
Other things aren’t quite there yet. Booster Gold isn’t quite there. Waller isn’t quite there. Brave and the Bold isn’t quite there. They’re not quite where I want them to be, yet.
While the new DCU Batman movie isn’t ready, recently saw the big news that a Batman villain movie set in the DCU is happening with Clayface.
What has James Gunn said about Brave and the Bold?
The Flash director Any Muschietti is supposed to be directing Brave and the Bold. Other than when the DCU was first announced back in early 2023, not much has been said about the film.
The official description at the time stated the DCU will introduce its Batman and Robin in this unusual father-son story inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic series.
“This is the introduction of the DCU Batman,” said Gunn at the DCU press event. “Of Bruce Wayne and also introduces our favorite Robin, Damian Wayne, who is a little son of a bitch.”
Gunn continued, “Assassin, murderer who Batman takes on, who is Batman’s actual son that he doesn’t know exists for the first 8-10 years of his life….it’s a strange father and son story about the two of them and based on Grant Morrison’s run of the Batman.”
