Spider-Man 4: Destin Daniel Cretton In Talks To Direct, Plot Rumors Involve No Multiverse

It looks as if Destin Daniel Cretton is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it is reported the Shang-Chi director is in talks to direct Spider-Man 4.

Destin Daniel Cretton was originally supposed to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but departed the project when Marvel decided to move away from Kang in favor of bringing back Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. Comic-Con saw the big announcement that Avengers 5 had become Avengers: Doomsday.

What are the Spider-Man 4 details?

Regarding Spider-Man 4, the info comes from THR. The site says Sony and Marvel are running full steam ahead with the flick and that Spider-Man 4 will shoot early next year.

Destin Daniel Cretton is said to be in talks to direct Spider-Man 4 (which sounds like a done deal) as it’s said Marvel always wanted to bring him back. It’s also said that it means good things for the Wonder Man series, which Destin Daniel Cretton produced.

Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are said to be back writing Spider-Man 4, and that Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are also back producing.

Spider-Man 4 presently has no release date or official announcement. Tom Holland will be back in the titular role.

Destin Daniel Cretton was also recently announced on Lionsgate’s live-action Naruto movie, which I am told is a complete disaster. According to THR, it is unclear how Spider-Man 4 will impact Destin Daniel Cretton directing Naruto and even the Shang-Chi sequel.

What do the Spider-Man 4 rumors say?

Regarding the plot of Spider-Man 4, it’s presently unknown.

As THR goes over, No Way Home ended with the world forgetting that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. That memory wipe also included those closest to him, including MJ (Zendaya), no longer even knowing who Peter is.

So we can assume that Spider-Man 4 will pick up from there.

There have also been rumors Spider-Man 4 could either be another multiverse movie or go the street-level, more grounded route.

According to scooper Can We Get Some Toast, Spider-Man 4 won’t be a multiverse movie.

“Don’t worry it’s not a multiverse movie,” the account tweeted. “At this point Pete should be around 19/20. Before the spell, him and his friends were applying for college after graduating HS!”

While Spider-Man 4 might not be a multiverse movie, My Time To Shine chimes in and adds, “Spider-Man 4 is going to be an Avengers-level event.”
