Ahead of the big price hike coming to Disney+, Disney+ is offering a new deal, letting new and returning subscribers in the U.S. subscribe to Disney+ Basic (with ads) for just $1.99/month for three months.
The promotion runs from September 12 to 27, 2024, giving subscribers a chance to lock in this special price before the upcoming price increase.
Starting October 17, Disney+ Basic will rise from $7.99 to $9.99/month.
This limited-time offer comes as Disney prepares to debut several highly anticipated releases, including Pixar’s Inside Out 2, Marvel’s Agatha All Along on September 18, and Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, a sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place, premiering October 30.
New Subscriber Perks
Alongside the promotional pricing, Disney+ is introducing exclusive perks for subscribers, including discounts on Disney merchandise and special digital offers:
- Free Marvel digital comics bundle (over 35 titles)
- 15% off Funko and Loungefly Disney merchandise
- Disney Cruise Line sweepstakes entry
- Exclusive Star Wars Outlaws in-game cosmetic
- Early access to Agatha All Along merchandise
- Tickets to the D23 Tune-in to Terror: A Hollywood Halloween event in L.A.
Disney’s Subscriber Boost Strategy
The $1.99/month offer comes at a strategic time, as Disney aims to boost its subscriber base before the fiscal quarter ends and ahead of the upcoming price increases for Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, and bundles.
Disney+ added 800,000 new subscribers in the U.S. and Canada during the June 2024 quarter, reaching 54.8 million, but international numbers saw a slight dip.
