Not a surprise if you have been following all the news and rumors but Anthony Mackie has confirmed Sebastian Stan won’t be appearing in Captain America 4, which of course means no Winter Soldier for the film.
While promoting the release of his Twisted Metal series on the Peacock streaming service, Mackie talked Marvel.
Among the thing he said is he wanted a second season of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier because he liked working with Sebastian Stan and Daniel Bruhl so much. However, he revealed they’re both not in Captain America 4.
“The Falcon and [the] Winter Soldier, I really enjoyed doing that show. I was actually excited to do a second season, just so me and Sebastian [Stan] can get paid to hang out [laughs],” he told the Radio Times.
He continued, “Because it’s like me, him and Daniel Brühl, it’s kind of like the perfect storm of happiness.”
Mackie added, “When they decided to go back to the movies, you know, it is what it is, but I don’t have my friends anymore, so it kind of dampens it a little bit.”
Sebastian Stan returns in Thunderbolts
While Sebastian Stan won’t be returning in Captain America: Brave New World, he will be back as part of the Thunderbolts team in the movie of the same name.
However, similar to the disappointing news about Cap 4, it has been reported all the Thunderbolts get killed at the end of the movie, which means Sebastian Stan’s days in the MCU could be numbered.
The script could still be changed, however, another rumor adds Sebastian Stan isn’t even one of the leads of the movie, so exactly what happens remains to be seen.
Captain America: Brave New World gets released on February 14, 2025; Thunderbolts on May 2, 2025.
