The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, a non-profit organization founded in 1972, has announced the nominations for the 2024 Saturn Awards.
Nominations include Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 for Best Superhero Film along with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, DC’s Blue Beetle, and The Flash.
The Saturn Awards are annual awards dedicated to honoring achievements in science fiction, fantasy, and horror in film, television, and other media. They were first introduced in 1972 by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films to recognize and celebrate the genres that often don’t receive as much attention at mainstream award ceremonies like the Oscars or the Emmys. The awards cover a wide range of categories, including Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and more specific categories within the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror genres. They’re voted on by the members of the Academy and are highly regarded within the industry.
The announcement of the winners is scheduled for February 4, 2024, during a ceremony hosted at the LA Marriott Burbank Airport Hotel. The event will also be streamed live on ElectricNow.
James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of the Water scored the most nominations with twelve, while Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has eleven.
