Ghostbusters is heading back to animation, as Sony Pictures Animation and Netflix have announced Ghostbusters: Night Shift, a new original animated series coming exclusively to Netflix in 2027.
The announcement came with a first look at the logo, featuring a stylized version of the classic No-Ghost symbol with a more comic-book-inspired, after-hours look.
Netflix says the series will bring “supernatural comedy and paranormal action” back to the franchise.
Ghostbusters: Night Shift Coming To Netflix
Ghostbusters: Night Shift is described as the next chapter in the franchise’s ghost-catching legacy, with the team officially pulling an all-nighter for Netflix.
The series hails from Sony Pictures Animation and Netflix, with Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire filmmakers Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan involved as executive producers.
Ben Hibon, Elliott Kalan, Amie Karp, and original Ghostbusters star and co-creator Dan Aykroyd are also executive producing.

Team Behind Frozen Empire Returns
The new animated series keeps the recent creative team attached to the franchise, as Reitman and Kenan co-wrote both Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
Reitman, the son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, directed Afterlife, while Kenan directed Frozen Empire.
The series also brings the franchise back to television animation after The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters, both of which helped keep the brand alive for younger fans in the ’80s and ’90s.
Ghostbusters Continues After Frozen Empire
Ghostbusters: Night Shift follows the latest live-action movies, which had similar worldwide totals at the box office.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife brought in $204.4 million worldwide in 2021, while Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire followed with $201 million worldwide in 2024.
Netflix has not announced a voice cast or exact release date. For now, Ghostbusters: Night Shift is set to clock in sometime in 2027.
