What if…? Season 2 will feature a new lineup of Avengers in more ways than one.
Episodes will feature a new team of Avengers set in what looks to be the present day, as well as back in the past, in the year 1602.
Thanks to episode titles, leaks, and now new Marvel promo art (updated with the poster), details on these new Avengers are known.
Captain Carter leads the team of new Avengers
Judging from the new art above, Captain Carter is leading The Avengers in the present form of the team. The art features Captain Carter (replacing Captain America), Wasp is also a new edition (Hulk is out), and the team also features Iron Man, Hawkeye, and Black Widow which are a part of the team in the MCU.
Episode 205 is titled “What If… Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?” so we know Captain Carter appears in that episode.
The Hydra Stomper appeared in Season 1 of What If…? where the alternate reality version of Peggy Carter becomes a super-soldier instead of Steve Rogers. The Hydra Stomper is a suit designed by Howard Stark and worn by Steve Rogers that allows him to fight alongside Peggy Carter as a hero during World War II. So apparently, instead of suiting up alongside Peggy, Steve or someone else dons the Hydra Stomper suit and battles Captain Carter.
The final episode also happens to be titled “What If… Strange Supreme Intervened?” so maybe the new Avengers under the leadership of Captain Carter assemble to battle that villain.

1602 Avengers
Regarding the year 1602, Episode 206 is titled “What If… The Avengers Assembled in 1602?” and it borrows from the comics where the Marvel Universe is reimagined in the year 1602.
According to CanWeGetSomeToast via Twitter, “What If… The Avengers Assembled in 1602?” will be “a mix of magic and steampunk. The villain of the episode will be Empress Hela with the 1602 Destroyer and her army of Yellow Jacket soldiers.”
The comics feature court magician Dr. Stephen Strange in the service of the Queen, Her Majesty’s premier spy, Sir Nicholas Fury, and a mad despot named Doom. However, this is the MCU version, so maybe since Hela is involved, Thor and maybe Loki will be, too.
The art above also reveals a look at Nebula who joins the Nova Corp, an obvious take on Yondu from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. List of episode titles can be found below.

What is What If…? Season 2 about?
Season two of “What If…?” continues the journey as The Watcher guides viewers through the vast multiverse, introducing brand new and familiar faces throughout the MCU. The series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments with an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their iconic roles. Featuring fan-favorite characters this season like Nebula, Hela and Happy Hogan, episodes are directed by executive producer Bryan Andrews with executive producer AC Bradley as head writer.
