Transformers One opens this week with early fan screenings on Wednesday, the Thursday previews, and then officially this weekend. Will the flick roll out in style or crash and burn? Check out the rundown below. Paramount also released the final trailer.
What are the Transformers One box office estimates?
While box office estimates from just a week ago offered the animated flick would open to around $40-$50 million, the estimates are now around $30 million, but as noted could go higher.
Deadline reports the Transformers One box office domestic estimates start in the low $30Ms with potential for upside.
A week ago saw Box Office Pro offer in their long-range forecast that Transformers One would open to $40 – $50M. That’s a pretty wide range.
Fans waiting on word-of-mouth?
As we have been pointing out in our recent box office analysis as of late, it seems the trend is that fans are waiting on word-of-mouth to see if said project is any good before shelling out their hard-earned dollars on expensive movie tickets and mid-tier food.
If they hear from like-minded fans that the movie is good, they’ll go see it. If word gets out it’s bad, it’s doomsday.
Critic reviews are also becoming less and less important to fans, as fans know critics often shill for movie studios or for politically oriented reasons, so the critic reviews aren’t as trustworthy.
What is the Transformers One Rotten Tomatoes Score?
Speaking of Rotten Tomatoes, the Transformers One Rotten Tomatoes Score out of the gates was the highest of the movie franchise at 91%.
However, with more reviews released, the score is now tied with Bumblebee at 90%, much higher than any of the Michael Bay live-action films.
How are ticket sales?
Transformers One ticket sales are also said to be ahead of the animated movies, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (opened to $28M 3-day), and Trolls Band Together ($30M).
TMNT went on to finish with $180.5M worldwide with a reported budget of $70M, and Trolls went on to finish with $209M on a reported budget of $95M. The Transformers One budget is said to be $75M.
A lot different than we what grew up with
Deadline also adds the flick looks to be more aimed at fathers and sons.
I haven’t seen Transformers One myself, but this is vastly different than the Transformers animated series and the 1986 movie I grew up with as a kid. Again, I think word-of-mouth will be a huge factor if this flick makes it or breaks it.
Who is the Transformers One voice cast?
Transformers One is directed by Toy Story 4’s Josh Cooley.
The voice cast includes Chris Hemsworth as the voice of Orion Pax, Brian Tyree Henry as D-16, Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1, Keegan-Michael Key as B-127, with Steve Buscemi as Scarscream, Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, Vanessa Liguori as Airachnid, Jon Bailey as Soundwave, Jason Konopisos-Alvarez as Shockwave, Evan Michael Lee as Jazz, and James Remar as Zeta Prime.
