Thor: Ragnarok Is A Universal Road Movie Says Mark Ruffalo

Disney & Jared Leto's 'Tron: Ares' Bombs At Box Office: Covid Blamed

Empire caught up with Mark Ruffalo, who is currently promoting his latest movie Spotlight, and chatted with the actor about Thor: Ragnarok, which sees Ruffalo back as Banner and the Hulk.

Ruffalo said Thor 3 is a “road movie” (meaning a movie which sees the main character traveling, and/or on some sort of journey of self-discovery, etc.) and compared the film to the 1988 Midnight run movie starring Charles Grodin and Robert De Niro.

“There’s a little bit of Midnight Run, with [Charles] Grodin and [Robert] De Niro.  I feel like that’s kind of where we’re heading with this relationship between Thor and Banner. It is a universal road movie – that’s where we’re heading. It’s not where you’d think it will be, so it’s not your classic road movie but it has that structure, I think.”

Ruffalo also commented about working with fellow Avenger, Chris Hemsworth.

“I love Chris [Hemsworth], and it’s not an accident that we’ve been put together because we have a good time together and we goof off. The fact that we’re moving towards the smart-comedic bent plays into our relationship.”

And Ruffalo confirms Hulk will be on Asgard: “[Am I looking forward to that?] Hells, yeah.”

Mark Ruffalo also revealed Thor: Ragnarok will be shot in Sydney, Australia.

“Thor: Ragnarok” has a November 3, 2017 release directed by Taika Waititi.
