Following The Exorcist getting scared off, now the Taylor Swift: Eras Tour has destroyed ticket sales for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The Taylor Swift: Eras Tour has brought in a whopping $26 million in presale in its first 24 hours, which tops the previous record held by Spider-Man: No Way Home which did $16.9 million back in 2021.
Also worth noting is that the presale number for Taylor Swift is only for AMC theaters, so that means the actual ticket sales are even larger.
Via Deadline, AMC says that less than three hours after tickets went on sale for the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, it was already beating Spider-Man: No Way Home’s record.
The site also points out movie studios aren’t involved and that the theaters get all the benefits. Maybe there’s a new trend?
Fandango also reports that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour broke its first-day sales for 2023 and ranks among their first-day best presellers which includes Avengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
“Taylor Swift is giving moviegoing fans and the entire industry the ultimate gift by bringing Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film to the big screen,” said Jerramy Hainline, SVP, Fandango Ticketing. “Not only is Taylor Swift’s concert film the best first-day ticket seller of the year on Fandango, but the concert film is performing like the superhero she is and ranking among the best first-day ticket sellers of all time from franchises like Marvel, Star Wars, DC Comics and more.”
Regarding The Exorcist: Believer, following Taylor Swift tickets going on sale, Universal Pictures was quick to change the release date.
