DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2 Synopsis & Vixen Poster Released

Jumping from the digital CW Seed animated series to DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2, check out a new poster for Vixen.

Vixen is being played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who actually is playing Amaya Jiwe, the grandmother of the animated series’ Mari McCabe (time travel obviously involved).

DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow returns in October to The CW.

Legends Of Tomorrow Season 2 synopsis:

After the defeat of the immortal villain Vandal Savage and the corrupt Time Masters who colluded with him, a new threat emerges. Dr. Nate Heywood (Nick Zano), an unconventional and charming historian, is thrust into the action upon making a shocking discovery – the Legends are scattered throughout time.

Nate must find a way to rescue season one’s beloved team of heroes and rogues, including billionaire inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), who has created an exo-suit with the power to shrink him to miniscule size, as the Atom; Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), the White Canary, a trained assassin; Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (Franz Drameh), who together form the meta-human Firestorm; and Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell), aka Heat Wave, a career criminal. When the Legends encounter the J.S.A (the Justice Society of America, the precursor to DC’s Justice League) in the 1940s, Amaya Jiwe (Maisie RichardsonSellers), aka Vixen, joins the team. While the team reunites, a mystery looms – the fate of former captain Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill).

Once reunited, the Legends continue their new mission to protect the timeline from temporal aberrations – unusual changes to history that spawn potentially catastrophic consequences. When Nate, the grandson of J.S.A. member Commander Steel, unexpectedly finds himself with powers, he must overcome his own insecurities and find the hero within himself. Ultimately, the Legends will clash with foes both past and present, to save the world from a mysterious new threat.

Based on the characters from DC, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”), Phil Klemmer (“The Tomorrow People,” “Chuck”), Chris Fedak (“Forever,” “Chuck”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash”).

Vixen Could Appear On The Flash & Arrow (Video)

Three episodes of the new animated Vixen series are currently on the CWSeed digital network.

As the series is set in the same universe as Arrow and The Flash, and the characters do appear in the series, EP Marc Guggenheim lets it be known we may see a live-action Vixen some day.

In the above video, Guggeheim speaks ith DC All Access remarking Vixen voice-actor Megalyn Echikunwoke looks similar to the character.

“Megalyn is this gift on so many different levels,” Guggenheim said. “First of all, it’s animated so we got to cast her for her voice, and Megalyn just came in and nailed her audition, but the very nice advantage for those of us who produce live-action television is that she happens to look the part. So we have as any option going forward the possibility of perhaps one day seeing Vixen in live-action form as well.”

Marc Guggenheim Talks Vixen Animated Series

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18704:]]

A couple of months ago saw WB announce the new Vixen animated series, which is set in the same universe as Arrow and The Flash.

Now EP Marc Guggenheim sheds some light on the project.

“We’re going to do basically an animated spinoff,” Guggenheim told SciFiNow. “It’s a six-part origin story, but characters from The Flash and Arrow are prominently involved. It’s in the continuity and the world.”

Guggenheim also says Grant Gustin of The Flash and Stephen Amell of Arrow may appear.

“The response has been very favorable,” Guggenheim offered. “I can’t speak for them, but all signs are good.”

It’s also possible that some time down the line Vixen could turn in to a live-action show, which Guggenheim says he is open to.

“If the character resonates with people, that would be wonderful,” said Guggenheim. “I would love to be in a position where CW said to us, ‘Hey, we want a Vixen live-action show.’ We’ll have to see how things play out.”

Vixen is set to debut on the CW’s digital offshoot propery, Seed, in the Fall.

Vixen Animated Series Announced In Same Universe As The Flash & Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18704:]]

The CW has added another DC Comics character to its roster with Vixen, which will be an animated series set in the same universe as The Flash and Arrow.

KSite TV revealed that Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim will be overseeing the project, with the series set to debut in the Fall.

In addition, two promo images were revealed at today’s Television Critics Associate press tour revealing the animated version of Vixen alongside animated versions of The Flash and Arrow.

The CW also announced renewed seasons for The Flash and Arrow, as well as a new trailer for iZombie and a first look at the Robbie Amell Firestorm costume.

In the DC Comics, Vixen debuted in 1981 and is the alter-ego of Mari Jiwe McCabe. Vixen has a “mystical Tantu totem that gives her the abilities of one animal at a time.”

The character is described as follows:

“Originally from Africa, Mari McCabe’s parents were killed by local greed, corruption, and wanton violence. But the orphaned Mari refuses to succumb to the terrors surrounding her. Inhereting her family’s Tantu Totem, Mari can access the powers of animals — anything from the super-strength of a gorilla to the speed of a cheetah. As Vixen, she fights valiantly to protect the world from the threats like those that claimed her family.”

Update: Vixen will launch on the CW’s digital offshoot Seed in the Fall.
