Margot Robbie Talks Landing Harley Quinn For Suicide Squad

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24630:]]

In a recent interview, Margot Robbie lets it be known she signed on to play Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad prior to reading the script or knowing anything about the character. Check it out:

I was actually about to sign up for another project, and Warner Bros. heard that I was about to sign on to something else. Before I signed on, they quickly jumped in and said, “Before you do that, just consider this role, because you don’t want to miss this! You’d be right for it!” And I was like “Oh, ok, let me read the script.” And they were like, “There is no script!” And I was like, “Oookay who else is in it?” And they were like, “No one yet!” And I was like, “okay, what is this film?”

The only information [they gave me] was, “Harley Quinn, a comic book character,” and I never read the comics. Then [they told me] David Ayer [is] directing. That’s all I needed to hear. I heard David, and I was like, “Oh I’m in.” I was obsessed with End of Watch, and I thought that was such a brilliant movie, and I saw it like four times. I think he’s so talented, and to do a comic book movie with a director like David, who is going to make it so dark and cool and different, just to me, that sounded like exactly what I thought they should be doing with comic book movies. I was on board. And you know, fortunately the end product [became] something even better than I could have ever imagined.

Margot Robbie also told hellogiggles they tried on lots of different Harley Quinn outfits including the well known court jester costume, which may make it into the planned Suicide Squad sequel.

“Suicide Squad” has an August 5, 2016 release date directed by David Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood in an unknown role.

Henry Cavill’s Superman May Show Up In Wonder Woman Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24621:]]

While we know Ben Affleck’s Batman will be next appearing in Suicide Squad following Batman Vs. Superman, what about Henry Cavill’s Superman?

It’s possible we may see the Man of Steel appear in the Gal Gadot Wonder Woman movie.

Henry Cavill spoke with the Brazilian magazine Superinteressante where he offered he might appear in Wonder Woman, and Cavill also let it be known his Superman won’t be appearing in Suicide Squad.

What can I say?… Not in Suicide Squad. In Wonder Woman I haven’t heard anything yet, but watch that space. And in anything else, I don’t know just yet if anything else gets shot between.

Wonder Woman has a June 23, 2017 release directed by Patty Jenkins starring Chris Pine Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis , Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis and Connie Nielsen.

Batman Vs. Superman R-Rated Details From Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck & Charles Roven

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24608:]]

Below you can check out details on the R-Rated home release of Batman Vs. Superman from director Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck and producer Charles Roven.

EW.com provided the following:

Currently unknown how long the director’s cut will be (theatrical version is 2h 31m).

• R-rated theatrical releases for DC movies is said to be unlikely.

• Jena Malone is not Batgirl or Robin.

Suicide Squad will be rated PG-13.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24606:]]

Ben Affleck:

“I’m a parent of young kids, and I feel like I wouldn’t want to have a Batman v Superman that I couldn’t show to my younger kids,” the actor says. “But on the same token, as an adult, I like to see movies that are R-rated. I think nowadays because we have so many means of distribution and ways that we can do different things, it’s the creative solution to a creative challenge.”

Ben Affleck on PG-13 Version:

“You can have multiple versions and I can show my son and my daughters this movie and feel confident that the stuff isn’t too crazy, and then grownups can see larger version, [which is like] the red-band trailer. They can see the more adult version of that movie.”

Ben Affleck on R-rating:

“These movies have definitely evolved from being comic books for children aimed at kids. Now they’re the most mainstream movies made, the most successful, the most widely viewed movies these days,” he says. “Clearly there’s a big enough audience. I think it’s cool. Why not have an R-rated version that you release for download or on DVD later? I think that’s smart.”

Zack Snyder:

“We were just like, ‘Okay, look. We’re not making a three-hour movie. I mean, even I didn’t want to make a three-hour movie,” Snyder says. “I drove the cuts probably harder than anyone. The studio, they were willing to let the movie indulge pretty hard. But I felt like it’s at a manageable two-and-a-half hours. Let’s also not forget the credits are super long, the end credits. So the movie’s closer to two hours and 22 minutes.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24605:]]

Zack Snyder on Jena Malone, who was cut from the theatrical version, but will be featured in the director’s cut:

“I think we should keep it private, but it’s nothing that’s been talked about,” Snyder says. “She’s definitely not Robin or Batgirl. I’m happy to say that.”

Zack Snyder says other new characters are in the director’s cut:

“There’s a couple, like, Ahman Green, the running back from the Green Bay Packers, he’s in it. And C.T. Fletcher is like this bodybuilder muscle-guru from Compton, this awesome guy. He’s amazing, and he’s in it,” Snyder says. “And then there’s just a lot of these Easter Eggs in the Director’s Cut that I think are gonna be fun for everyone.”

Snyder says something big is in the director’s cut teasing Justice League:

“There’s one giant one that I won’t tell you about yet that speaks to what’s gonna go on in the greater Justice League universe,” he says.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24604:]]

Producer Charles Roven on R-Rating:

“There’s not a lot of blood in our movies,” he says. “The ratings board also judges their PG-13 and R ratings by what they consider to be a level of intensity and how much that intensity goes throughout the entire movie. There are some pretty intense scenes inBatman v Superman, and if they went on longer and had that same level of intensity, that might cause the ratings board to shift their rating.”

Charles Roven confirms PG-13 rating for Suicide Squad:

“I think right now we’re going for the PG-13. I don’t know that that’s going to materially change,” he said. “We can give that movie the edge that it needs and still maintain a PG-13.”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24607:]]

DC COLLECTIBLES ROCKS NEW YORK TOY FAIR WITH FIRST-EVER ACTION FIGURE LINE BASED ON DC FILMS

PREMIUM 6’’ ACTION FIGURES FEATURE CHARACTERS FROM MAN OF STEEL, BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE AND SUICIDE SQUAD

All-New 6’’ Harley Quinn Action Figure Line Based on Art Style of Award-Winning Artist Amanda Conner Set to Debut in 2016

Fan-Favorite Batman: The Animated Series Action Figure Line Brings Iconic Batwing from 1990s TV Series to Life as 36’’ Toy Replica

DC Collectibles, the exclusive line of toy and collector items from DC Entertainment (DCE), will showcase its exciting 2016 product line-up at New York Toy Fair including a first-ever 6’’ premium action figure line based on Warner Bros. recent and upcoming DC films including Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. In addition to the film-inspired line, in 2016 DC Collectibles will introduce a wide array of new statues, action figures and collectible items based on DCE’s comic and media properties and feature iconic characters Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and more.

The new, ongoing DC films action figure line was created specifically with toy collectors in mind, delving deep into character line-ups and offering up to 40+ points of articulation – the most articulation points ever produced by DC Collectibles.

“This is the first time DC Collectibles has made action figures based on DC films, and with this much articulation and attention to detail, we’re not holding anything back,” said Geoff Johns, chief creative officer of DC Entertainment. “Its exciting to see our DC film slate bring to life so many great DC characters, and DC Collectibles is following suit with our action figure line. This line will include everything from Batman to Superman to Wonder Woman, and even the obscure characters that will pop up in the cinematic universe. I can’t wait for fans of our films to get their hands on these figures.”

The first wave of DC films action figures will hit stores in Fall 2016 and will include Zod and Faora from Man of Steel and Armored Batman and Superman from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The first Suicide Squad action figures are set to release in 2017.

DC Collectibles will also debut an all-new Designer Series action figure line dedicated to fan-favorite DC Comics character, Harley Quinn. Taken straight from the pages of DC Comics, the 6.75’’ action figures are inspired by the art style of critically acclaimed artist Amanda Conner, and will feature Connor’s most popular character designs of the Crown Princess of Crime and each will include custom accessories.

“I’m really excited to be a part of this new line from DC Collectibles,” said Harley Quinn artist and co-writer Amanda Conner. “It’s been a fun, wild ride over the past few years, and I’m so happy that Harley’s popularity continues to explode. Seeing my designs, and the many different personalities of Harley Quinn, brought to life as action figures is simultaneously thrilling and humbling (if that’s even possible). This toy line adds a whole new level of whacky, wonderful insanity to the Harley world, and the fans are going to love it!”

DC Collectibles will also expand the bestselling Batman: The Animated Series action figure line based on the award-winning Warner Bros. Animation TV series, producing new action figures as well as a first-ever 36’’ Batwing. The Batman: The Animated Series Batwing marks the second vehicle from the line following last year’s hit Batmobile replica, and will feature light, slide-able door access and room for two 6’’ action figures.

“Our popular Batman: The Animated Series line continues to strike a nostalgic chord with fans and it’s really exciting to see the positive reception,” said Kevin Kiniry, vice president, Creative Services, at DC Entertainment. “We were the first to bring fans the Batman: The Animated Series Batmobile scaled for 6’’ action figures, and we’re very proud to also be the first to bring fans the Batwing at this scale as well.”

Other new products scheduled for 2016 include additions to the highly popular DC Comics Icons action figure line, as well as first-ever corresponding accessory packs for the Icons figures. DC Collectibles will also debut a BlueLine Jim Lee Superman action figure – a follow-up to last year’s hit BlueLine Batman action figure- and will include a sketch from world-renowned artist Jim Lee. WB Rumored To Be Worried About Batman Vs. Superman & Justice League Movie Universe Future

Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. recently released the final Batman Vs. Superman trailer, which was better received than the last.

Now it’s being said Warner Bros. is worried.

The info comes from HitFix‘s Drew McWeeny who talks about the latest Batman Vs. Superman trailer and the Justice League universe.

“I do think this is the moment now for Warner to make the case,” McWeeny offered. “Sort of pulling the curtain back a little bit, Warner is a little bit worried. This movie [Batman v Superman] is starting to scare them. And it’s scaring them because they are starting to show it to people now. People are starting to lay eyes on the film and the response has been not exactly what I think they wanted.”

McWeeny goes on to speculate that he thinks Suicide Squad will be a hit; that Wonder Woman will be finished the way they are planning, but McWeeny goes on to say he will be surprised if Justice League starts filming when it’s supposed to, and also that he will be surprised if Zack Snyder directs it.

McWeeny continues with mention that he has talked with enough people close to the studio that his guess is Justice League will get pushed back, and the Ben Affleck Batman standalone movie will take the place of Justice League Part 1 in 2017.

“My guess is they’re gonna throw whatever money it takes at Ben Affleck to make that Batman film happen sooner rather than later,” McWeeny said. “Because they are going to need to rebuild again. They are going to need to win people back over. They are going to need to lay some different ground work. I don’t think this is going to be the springboard for the Justice League they wanted it to be.”

McWeeny also says the two things he hears that are working for WB is that Ben Affleck’s Batman is said to be “very good,” and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor “is great.”

It’s also suggested the reason for the problems surrounding the movie is that it was rushed, as two days prior to the Comic-Con announcement was when they decided to do Batman Vs. Superman. It’s further said the WB Justice League movie universe is suffering from not having someone at the head of it – similar to Marvel’s Kevin Feige – and that if Batman Vs. Superman doesn’t make a billion dollars at the box office to expect a lot of changes following the movie’s release.

McWeeny also goes on to to state to look for promotion to shift toward Ben Affleck and Batman.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter as Senator Finch and Tao Okamoto as Mercy Graves. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

“We’re not holding anything back,” Geoff Johns, chief creative officer of DC Entertainment, tells Yahoo. “It’s exciting to see our DC film slate bring to life so many great DC characters… This line will include everything from Batman to Superman to Wonder Woman, and even the obscure characters that will pop up in the cinematic universe. I can’t wait for fans of our films to get their hands on these figures.”

TV Fan Blasts Marc Guggenheim “Over Slap To The Face” Because Of Suicide Squad Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24214:]]

I always love when I hear executives state the movies don’t affect the comics or TV universes.

Case in point: Current Marvel Comics EIC Axel Alonso regularly states the movies don’t affect the comics. We know that isn’t true as Matt Fraction stated the Thor movie interfered with how he wrote his Thor comic; we know Abnett and Lanning were kicked off their Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova comics because of Gunn’s film; we know the Inhumans are replacing the X-Men, and we know Marvel Comics cancelled the Fantastic Four because of the Fox movie. We also know the last ten or so years has seen Marvel Comics focus on the Avengers, and not the X-Men. And Steve Roger is returning as Captain America.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24220:]]

Regarding the DC Comics, legendary creator George Perez was pretty clear when he stated the Man of Steel people messed with his New 52 Superman comic, which is why he left.

And we also know the same happens with the DC TV universe.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24223:]]

Because of the Suicide Squad movie, Deadshot is “off the table,” Harley Quinn was shelved, and with the recent death of Amanda Waller in Arrow, it’s easy to guess the same thing happened with her character. Batman and Superman are also off limits for the Flash and Arrow universe, and Arrow couldn’t use Blue Beetle, so they went with Atom instead. Now it’s learned Deadstroke is also shelved (see below).

We can also speculate as a result of the new Green Lantern Corps movie, that now Green Lantern is also off limits.

There has been some online chatter amongst fans asking why this is the case — as the DC execs regularly state the movie and TV universes are separate. Zack Snyder recently said more of the same. So why then can’t they have the same characters? If I had to guess, my answer as to why the TV characters are being shelved is not to compete with their movie counterparts. We can probably thank Grant Gustin’s Flash for that. I’ve said it before, I think DC has finally found their “Spider-Man” with Grant Gustin as Barry Allen and The Flash. The series is popular amongst casual fans, young fans, hard core fans and older fans (WB really needs to start heavily promoting Gustin and the series). I think WB is going to find it difficult to sell the Ezra Miller Flash to the fanbase. We see they have already started spinning that we should accept Miller because there are different universes. Ezra Miller has probably been coached on the topic as in interviews he’s mentioned multiple realities/universes/dimensions. The controversy has even caused Grant Gustin to come out and tell fans that he supports Miller.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24218:]]

Now executive producer Marc Guggenheim is feeling the heat as fans asked and complained on Tumblr about the TV characters getting the axe, specifically the Arrow Suicide Squad characters with Deadshot, Deathstroke and Amanda Waller.

Fan #1: Any possible chance of either Slade or Walter returning throughout the rest of Season 4? #Arrow

MG: The character of Slade Wilson is currently tied up in another DC project.  Walter is more likely.

Fan #2: You said that only Deadshot was off-limits, and Amanda Waller & Deathstroke are safe. But you guys killed Waller off just like that, and she doesn’t seem like she will ever return(Because bullet to head). Who’s next to be killed off? Katana? Once Deathstroke arrives in the DC movie, will he be also killed off too? This is really frustrating, that all awesome characters are being written off, because of the Suicide Squad movie, and is a slap to the face of Arrow fans.

MG: Um… I never said that.

Arrow‘s Stephen Amell, who may just be as frustrated as a lot of fans are (Amell has been vocal about wanting to be in Justice League with Gustin as the movie Flash), recently stated in an interview he thinks Arrow is missing Deathstroke.

“Manu [Bennett] is a character, and Manu played a great character. And I really honestly think that Arrow has been missing something since he hasn’t been around. I really do. He was a transformative villain. I would really love it if Deathstroke could keep being a part of the Arrow universe,” Amell said.

Sorry to say, Stephen, per Guggenheim’s words, that isn’t going to be the case. Let’s just hope Green Arrow doesn’t appear in the DCCU any time soon, eh?

Suicide Squad’s Viola Davis Picks Batman in “Dawn of Justice”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24019:]]

A few days ago saw Zack Snyder ask fans to choose their side for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Now Suicide Squad‘s Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) weighs in on the debate and chooses Batman.

“You’re asking a girl. A girls love Batman. They love Batman,” Davis offered to Empire Magazine. “You ask any woman, ‘Batman or Superman?’ It’s always going to be Batman. It’s the mask. It’s the muscles. It’s the car. Come on, it’s the Batmobile. The Batcave! Batman, man. Batman is hot. Superman needs a car. And the tights don’t work for me.”

It probably should be noted Batman does appear in Suicide Squad (probably doesn’t make a difference, though).

Empire also caught up with Jake Gyllenhaal (up to play Batman at one time), Matt Damon and Amy Schumer. See their picks below.

“Batman Vs. Superman” has a March 25, 2016 release; “Suicide Squad” hits August 5th.
