With Deadpool rockin’ at the box office (currently $333 million worldwide), fans have petitioned NBC and Saturday Night Live to get Ryan Reynolds to host the show as the Merc With A Mouth.
The petition on change.org currently has over 64,000 signatures.
“How would this not be hilarious having Deadpool in sketches, breaking the 4th wall, and inserting some of his brand of humor (obviously toned down a bit for network television)!?!?!” the petition reads in part.
Reynolds has only hosted SNL once before back in 2009 following the first time he played Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
“Live from New York! It’s Deadpool!” sounds about right.
Update: Word of the petition has reached Ryan Reynolds:
“Deadpool” is currently in theaters directed by Tim Miller starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, TJ Miller as Weasel, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Morena Baccarin as Copycat and Ed Skrein as Ajax.
Synopsis:
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
