Jon Bernthal Hints At Classic Punisher Costume For Daredevil

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22138:]]

Previous set pics revealed seemingly a simple Frank Castle in action, and now if the latest image Jon Bernthal has posted is anything to go by, he will be wearing the familiar Punisher costume for the Netflix Daredevil series.

Bernthal posted the following image of himself wearing a Punisher basketball jersey.

Below you can also check out the front of the jersey, which retails for around $32.

Daredevil and The Punisher are said to be more at odds over their personal philosophies for handing out justice in Season 2, rather than The Punisher being a straight-up villain. It’s been said due to the events at the end of Daredevil Season 1, that a power vacuum has occurred leaving Hell’s Kitchen open for a vigilante killing spree by The Punisher.

“Daredevil” stars Charlie Cox as the Man Without Fear with Season 2 due out in 2016.

Jon Bernthal Talks Punisher & Daredevil

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21046:]](Jon Bernthal as Punisher fan art)

Jon Bernthal talks playing the Punisher in Season 2 of Dardevil for the first time while promoting The Majority Project, a foundation aimed at bringing awareness to Pit Bulls.

“Oh man, it’s just a huge honor to play the part and that’s all I can say about that,” Bernthal told ABC News regarding Frank Castle. “I’m very thrilled and we haven’t started yet, but I’m very much looking forward to it.”

Bernthal is probably best known for playing Shane in The Walking Dead, but also has had roles on Wolf Of Wall Street and Fury. He also happens to be a Pit Bull owner and is featured in the promo video (below) for themajorityproject.com.

“I’m living my dream everyday,” Bernthal added. “My dream is to be with my kids and my dogs and that’s what I’m going to do. I’m a pit bull owner myself. I’ve seen the prejudice these dogs have been facing for years. I care a lot about the breed and I believe it’s very misunderstood. I think that every 10 or 15 years there a diff dog that’s thrown into the limelight that’s perceived of being aggressive and I think the notion of that is really ridiculous.

“I’ll do what I can to make my dogs ambassadors of the breed and I’ll do what I can to fight against it.”

“Daredevil” Season 2 is currently in development and will be released next year on Netflix.

Tom Hardy Wants To Play The Punisher

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20400:]]

With Tom Hardy having to bow out of Suicide Squad due to scheduling issues, perhaps the Bane actor can head to greener pastures over at the direct competition.

While speaking with Collider, Hardy offered he wants to play The Punisher, or even a role for a Splinter Cell movie adaptation of the video game.

I want The Punisher… I want The Punisher, or Splinter Cell, I want something…I don’t know what I want.

Hardy goes on to comment that he may be too short for the role of the Punisher, but offers he still would like to do it.

I’m not big enough to be The Punisher, I’m 5’9” [Laughs].

Frank Castle, I would love it.

After watching Tom Hardy in Warrior, my personal pick is for Hardy to be the new Wolverine as Fox looks to be rebooting the X-Men.

Daredevil Showrunner Wants R-Rated Punisher

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19866:]]

With hopefully the upcoming Marvel Netflix Daredevil series being such a success, perhaps following Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist we could see the Punisher.

Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight recently spoke with SciFiNow and stated he would love to get an R-Rated Punisher series made.

“I’d love to see him get his due on a platform like this,” DeKnight said. “Nothing would delight me more than to see the Punisher get his own show and maybe we could convince Marvel to go Hard-R rating. If any character deserves an R rating, it’s the Punisher.”

Though Daredevil won’t be R-rated, it will still be pretty dark and gritty, and Charlie Cox even said the Man Without Fear is pretty close to the character of the Punisher.

“Steven DeKnight said that Daredevil is one bad day away from being the Punisher,” added Cox. “I thought that was really helpful. Again, it adds to the dark tone, and I think it’s more interesting to watch.”

Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson previously played Frank Castle, maybe Steven DeKnight already has plans for a new “Frank” to cameo in Daredevil?

“Daredevil” premiers with all 13 episodes on April 10th.

Thomas Jane Done With Punisher

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18845:]]

The ship has sailed for Thomas Jane and The Punisher.

While speaking with I Am Rogue, Thomas Jane was asked if he was in talks with Marvel to reprise as Frank Castle, with Jane offering the following:

I feel like I’ve done it. That’s why I did the short film. I wanted to create something that was truer to my own vision of what that movie could be. I feel like I put that out there. It was really well received. I hope that The Punisher will continue. I hope they get an idea of what it can be and how to make it successful. I hope that they use that short film as a template for how to make it truer to what that character is. I feel like I’ve done it even though it was a short film. I said what I wanted to say with that guy. I don’t think I ever really was the perfect Frank Castle.

I look at him as Italian. A guy who, I guess I’m the right age now, but I would see him as a weathered guy. My body is not quite perfect for Frank. I would see Frank as more of a square jawed, lock-jawed kind of guy. I don’t know who it would be. I think you’d need an unknown to play Frank. He’s really the ideal asshole!

Thomas Jane portrayed the Punisher in the 2004 film which grossed over $54 million on a $33 million budget.

While Thomas Jane may no longer be The Punisher, the rights are back at Marvel and Daredevil showrunner Steven DeKnight recently revealed that he would like to do a Punisher series. Maybe it’s even possible we’ll see Frank Castle in one of the Netflix shows?

Thomas Jane currently stars in Vice and also has The Expanse coming out this year for SyFy.

The “DOC’s” Top Of The Pile for September 5th, 2012

The “DOC’s” Top Of The Pile

I do the research, you reap the reward! Before you head out to your favorite shop today, be sure to add these five titles to your list of goodies! Forget that “apple a day” nonsense, this “DOC’s” prescription to good health starts with these top five books of the week!

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2893:]]

1.  Archer and Armstrong #2:  Fred Van Lente is one of the most underrated writers in the world of comics today! This book is full of action, social commentary, history and comedy — combining in a whirlwind of pure excitement that will leave you wanting more. Oh, and there are Nun Ninjas! Yep, Nun Ninjas! Awesome!

2.  Damsels #1:  Leah Moore and John Reppion’s take of classic fairytale “damsels” is as fun and irreverent as we always wished they would be! Full of intrigue, this one will keep you pleasantly puzzled but never completely confused. Plus, you have to check out the cover by J. Scott Campbell — stunning!

3.  Fashion Beast #1:  Not to be outdone by his daughter, Mr. Alan Moore dredges up a play he wrote decades ago with fashion mogul Malcolm Mclaren, revolving around a modernized tale of high fashion and Beauty and the Beast. Antony Johnston’s adaption to comic form from Moore’s play, is quite curious and engaging, making us ponder just what is more important in life.

4.  Punisher #15:  The dual pistoled duo brings down the house in this bombastic issue! The Punisher and Marine Sergeant Rachel Cole-Alves, have taken the fight to the Exchange’s doorstep and not everyone will make it out alive! A great book with a great character that deserves so much more than going to space!

5.  Green Lantern #0:  Questions run rampant in this origin tale of the latest Green Lantern — Simon Baz! Although forged by his religious beliefs, he is so much more than the shackles the government places on him for them! Cool character that may or may not be worthy of the ring upon his finger! It’s Hero Up Time! A Look At The Marvel Super Hero Squad MMO

Squaddies Assemble!

By: Chris “DOC” Bushley

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:774:]]

For those of us who grew up reading comics, it gave us a passion that few hobbies could ever rival. One that followed us from awkward teenage years through adulthood, and now we get the chance to see our beloved hobby take on a whole new meaning in the eyes of our children. What better way to bond with them than to sit and read about the very same heroes we cherished as children ourselves. My four year old daughter and I love hanging out and reading Marvel’s Wizard Of Oz series, and especially, DC’s Tiny Titans. And now we have discovered, I know this has been around for awhile but she’s only four, another way to enjoy our shared interests — Marvel’s Super Hero Squad Online!

A scaled down MMO, S.H.S.O., is a great way to have your children interact with not only the characters they read about, but other fans as well. A free and safe environment, the game lets you take control of your favorite heroes and have them traverse four different locales to find coins, tickets and character balloons that will help “level up” your characters. You can also go on missions to defeat villains and earn experience points, battle players in Pokemon style card games, go shopping for other heroes and swag, decorate your very own headquarters from paint to furniture and even visit the arcade to play exclusive mini games! All in all, it’s a great time!

You can become a Jr. S.H.I.E.L.D. member for a monthly fee, there are varying degrees and benefits, or just play for free! Whichever way you do it, it’s guaranteed fun!

My new “Squaddies Assemble” article, will let you know when updates occur to the game. Since there have been so many this month, I will put them in random numerical order:

1.  Released for Valentine’s Day, you can now get Daredevil and Elektra card games for around two hundred gold each!

2.  Villain’s Fury booster packs were available for a limited time for free using the code: VillainsFury!

3.  Just in time for his horrible sequel, Ghost Rider is now available for purchase! He will set you back 1,200 gold but he is AWESOME!

4.  The new classic Daredevil, in original red and yellow costume, is now available for only 350 gold!

5.  Not to be outshone by his more heroic nemesis, the Bullseye mission is now available for purchase for a mere 200 gold coins!

6.  February is definitely “street” themed, and who is more street than — The Punisher! 600 gold will get you cartoon Frank Castle, aw yeah!

7.  Sale of the century! Classic Daredevil, Scarlet Witch, Mr. Fantastic, Valkyrie and, everyone’s favorite, Nova are all on sale for 300 gold!

8.  Now your Squaddies have a voice of their own! Helmed by most of the voice talents from The Super Hero Squad Show, all your characters can now talk!

(Update! Just yesterday S.H.S.O. gave us two brand new updates for Leap Day! Luke Cage is now available for purchase for 300 gold [the cheapest regular priced character ever!] and a new Kingpin mission is available for 200 gold! I told you anything can happen on Leap Day!)

With some very big months ahead for Marvel, I think they have some movies coming out or something, there is just no telling what updates will occur for this fantastic game. But rest assured, the “DOC” and “Lil’ Thunder” will be here to keep you informed of everything! So stop reading this, call your little super heroes together and head on over to HeroUp.com for some great family fun!
