War Dogs has an August 19, 2016 release directed by Todd Phillips (The Hangover).

Synopsis:

Based on a true story, “War Dogs” follows two friends in their early 20s (Hill and Teller) living in Miami during the first Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts.  Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life.  But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.

Miles Teller Never Watched Star Wars Prior To Han Solo Audition

Miles Teller is one of the thousands of actors who have auditioned for the role of the young Han Solo movie in the Star Wars Anthology film due out in 2018.

Teller, who seems to have not landed the role, tells the Happy Sad Confused Podcast that he didn’t even watch Star Wars prior to the audition.

“I had never even seen any of the original Star Wars movies until maybe a month or a couple weeks before my first audition because I was like, ‘I should check this out’ (laughs). It holds up. I just love Harrison Ford, I think that’s a great character. I love his brand, I mean so many guys would’ve played that part so wrong and he has humor at the right times.”

The same podcast sees Teller defending the recent Fantastic Four movie that bombed at the box office (for what it’s worth, I thought it wasn’t all that bad; they just needed to fix a few things: Thing, Doom and add more story elements).

“People think that when you make something like a Fantastic Four that doesn’t do well, people think ‘Oh you phoned it in’ and it couldn’t be more untrue. You work harder on the bad films, or the films that turn out maybe not the way you intended, because something’s not working. And I thought it was kind of unjustly critiqued that way; there are even bigger bombs if you’re looking at how much money went into the production and what they reaped back. But I think it’s unfortunate a movie like that becomes a scarlet letter on a resume when so many talented people worked really hard and maybe a handful of people took it in a negative direction. ”

Teller goes on to blame the Fantastic Four script for the movie’s failure, which according to reports, was always in a state of flux.

“I think it was Clooney who said you can make a bad movie out of a good script, you can’t make a good movie out of a bad script, and that’s very true. If they’re telling you maybe your part’s not as big and they say, ‘Oh you’re gonna be bigger in the sequel’ or ‘Oh we’re gonna rewrite’ and ‘Yeah we’re gonna take in all these notes,’ if you’re in a position where you can say hold off I’m not signing off on this dotted line until this script is exactly where you want it, then you’re in a very fortunate position.

The Han Solo Star Wars movie has a May 25, 2018 release directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. It’s said Taron Egerton, Jack Reynor and Alden Ehrenreich are now being eyed for the role of the young Han Solo.

Ryan Reynolds Talks Deadpool, Fantastic Four & Green Lantern

Deadpool Trailer

Over at GQ, Ryan Reynolds spoke about the upcoming Deadpool movie as well as Green Lantern and the recent Fantastic Four film.

Following the disappoinment of Green Lantern, Reynolds remarks whether he was relucatant about returning to do another superhero movie:

“A little bit. But Deadpool was different because there wasn’t a big budget attached to it. There was not a tremendous responsibility to meet some kind of bottom line. Those kinds of superhero movies when you’re out front, there’s a vast and quite frightening budget attached to them. This one had a super-reasonable budget, and it was subversive and a little bit different, and to me a little refreshing in the comic-book world. But you always have trepidation. When you’re out front, you have trepidation.”

Regarding Green Lantern, Reynolds comments if he would do it all over again knowing what he knows now:

“I mean, I don’t give a rusty fuck, because—I know that this is gonna sound like some sort of guy who’s spent a little bit of time in a monastery or something, but it all led to here. If I had to do it all again, I’d do the exact same thing. You know, also,Green Lantern—you gotta remember, at the time, everyone was gunning for that role. The guys I was screen-testing against are amazing talents. [Reynolds reportedly beat out Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake, and Jared Leto for the role.] But would I change it? No! And if it was as big a success, then it might have offered a whole different avenue of opportunities, or maybe I would just be kind of always that guy. I really don’t know.

“Yeah, for sure. I think I would be probably in prep for Green Lantern 3 right now. That sounds about right.”

There have also been recent statements regarding the future of super hero movies in that they are a fad, which will go the way of the Westerns, with both Steven Spielberg and Batman Vs. Superman director Zack Snyder weighing in on the topic. Reynolds offered his own thoughts:

“It’s a genre. There are good horror movies and bad horror movies. There are good comedies and bad comedies. Think of it like that. Think of it less about just superheroes. I do believe that they explore similar archetypes a lot, so I think that notion can be somewhat fatiguing, maybe. I think one of the reasons that Deadpoolhas gained a lot of momentum isn’t just that it’s funny or isn’t just that it’s rated R. The meta aspect is very important. So I think Deadpool’s coming along at the right time, because it’s also speaking to that generation and that group of people that have seen them all, seen all these comic-book films and enjoyed them all to varying degrees of success. But I think it’s speaking to them as though the guy in that red suit is one of them, to some degree.”

As Green Lantern and some other movies Reynolds has been involved with are considered flops, Reynolds comments on the recent failure of Fantastic Four offering:

“But I’m more frustrated about the Michael B. Jordan aspect than Miles Teller. You know, Miles Teller’s gonna recover. Miles Teller’s gonna go on to do amazing things, you know. It’s important that Michael B. Jordan continues to go on and do amazing things.

“I know it’s not easy for a black actor. It’s not easy for a female actor. It’s not easy for a lot of people that are… That entire cast is amazingly talented. And I wouldn’t wish that on anybody. I mean, I know what that feels like. It doesn’t feel good. And it also is difficult, because you don’t feel like you can control that outcome. You know, as much as you want to. You can’t really.”

Fantastic Four Cast Talks X-Men (Video)

Are there any connections between the X-Men and the Fantastic Four?

Maybe in Miles Teller’s wildest dreams.

MTV interviewed the cast questioning if there are any references to the X-Men in Fantastic Four as they could be set in the same universe, and Simon Kinberg is involved with both franchises.

Teller and Kate Mara than joke about Reed Richards.

“I think you can tell Mystique falls in love with Reed,” Teller jokes.

Kate Mara than interjects, “My god. In your dreams.”

“I don’t tell Simon which beautiful actress to fall in love with Reed,” Teller says. “He just hit the nail on the head with Kate.  She loves it. She loved being the only girl on set. Oh my, God [laughter].”

Mara is than asked if it’s hard falling in love with Reed, where she makes it known she signed a multi-picture deal, which sounds like three movies.

“It’s impossible. I’ve got a couple more movies to make still. I have time,” Mara says.

Fantastic Four Cast Talks Saying Classic Lines, Costumes & Being Super Heroes (Video)

Fantastic Four has come along way since earlier reports of the movie mentioned the characters wouldn’t be super heroes or wearing costumes. At one time it was even said their powers were more comparable to disabilities than anything that gives them the ability to save the day.

All that seems to be changed with the latest trailer as we do see the Fantastic Four in costume as well as wielding their powers seemingly for the good of all mankind.

Now the cast offers the movie will also feature the FF’s well-known dialogue from the comics, as well as the FF will be superheroes, and the cast teases the look of the costumes.

Kate Mara confirms by the end of the movie, fans will get to see the Fantastic Four in their iconic familiar suits.

“Yes,” Mara responds with a deep voice.

Miles Teller gives a questioning look toward Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan offering possibly that the suits we see is what we will get: “I would say, go by what you see. I think, at this point, our suits are out there. You see our suits.”

Mara then adds the Fantastic Four are super heroes.

“We are super heroes for a lot of the film, but you are also with us for a decent about of time before that happens,” Mara said.

It’s also learned the voice for The Thing will be Jamie Bell’s voice using a modulator.

“It will be a lot of my voice modulated slightly,” Bell said.

Regarding The Thing saying his classic line from the comics – “it’s clobbering time” – Bell answers, “Possibly.”

Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara also respond the same when questioned if the Human Torch will say “flame on.”

Fantastic Four Movie To Feature Comic Book Costumes

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19685:]]

Though it was previously said we might not see costumes in the Fantastic Four reboot, images revealed some sort of outfit, which has been described as “containment suits.”

Now it’s learned Fantastic Four will feature more traditional looking costumes as well.

Miles Teller spoke about the Fantastic Four costumes with Screen Crush.

These are the beta versions of the costumes, which is great […] But, yeah it would be very odd if the Fantastic Four didn’t don the traditional costumes. You’ve got to. There is some servicing there. You’ve got to give that to the fans. That’s what it’s all about.

It’s also suggested that the costumes may feature the “F” logo and could possibly be revealed at the end of the movie (and not having to wait for the sequel).
