For the first time in 18 years, a brand new Dragon Ball Z series will be coming to TV.
Dragon Ball Super will premiere on Fuji TV and other channels airing Sundays this July, which will be set after the Majin Buu saga, with foes stronger than Buu and Freeza teased.
The story is set a few years after the defeat of Kajin Buu, with the Earth having become peaceful once again.
“We’ve always used the word ‘chō‘ (Super) with Dragon Ball in commercials, games and the like, but the fact that the series titled Dragon Ball Super is beginning is the best thing ever,” Masako Nozaw, the voice of Goku, said, reports the Anime News Network.
“As I read the plot [of the series] I’ve already received from Akira Toriyama, my dreams for this begin to expand. An enemy even stronger than Buu or Freeza may appear…” added Fuji TV producer Osamu Nozaki.
Dragon Ball Super is from original creator Toriyama; Kimitoshi Chioka is directing; with Naoko Sagawa and Atsushi Kido serving as producers.
The new animated film, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F, was recently released in Japan and will have an English Summer release.
