Duchovny is also returning for the new X-Files, which films this Summer, for a 6-episode run.

Aquarius premiers Thursday May 28th at 9pm ET on NBC.

Synopsis:

It’s 1967 and the era of free love, drug experimentation and the Vietnam War is in full effect. When the teenage daughter of a respected lawyer goes missing, LAPD Detective Sam Hodiak starts asking around. Needing the help of someone they will trust, he partners with rebellious undercover cop Brian Shafe, a man who’s more comfortable rolling a joint than patrolling a beat. It’s not long before they stumble upon a small-time cult leader seeking out vulnerable women to join his cause. From there, they follow this man’s trail down a rabbit hole of drugs, sex, murder and cultural revolution. Little do they know, however, the guy they’re hunting will eventually become the killer we now recognize as Charles Manson. This is the show that will explore the cat-and-mouse game between Manson and the police that will go on for several seasons, ultimately ending with the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders.

Fox Announces New X-Files

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19773:]]

Fox has officially announced that X-Files is back following a 13-year hiatus.

Series stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny will be back as FBI Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, respectively, for the new 6-episode series slated to begin filming this Summer.

“I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” X-Files creator Chris Carter said in a statement. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”

“We had the privilege of working with Chris on all nine seasons of The X-Files – one of the most rewarding creative experiences of our careers – and we couldn’t be more excited to explore that incredible world with him again,” added Dana Walden and Gary Newman, Chairmen and CEOs of Fox Television Group. “The X-Files was not only a seminal show for both the studio and the network, it was a worldwide phenomenon that shaped pop culture – yet remained a true gem for the legions of fans who embraced it from the beginning. Few shows on television have drawn such dedicated fans as The X-Files, and we’re ecstatic to give them the next thrilling chapter of Mulder and Scully they’ve been waiting for.”

X-Files first aired back in 1993 for 9 seasons and spawned two movies.

Gillian Anderson has already taken to Twitter to offer up her excitement as well:

David Duchovny Up For More X-Files

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18829:]]

Three days ago saw word from Fox executives that they are planning on reviving X-Files.

Now David Duchovny says he is onboard for more episodes, but does state he would rather have it be a limited series than a full season.

Duchovny told USA Today he’s “more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with (co-star) Gillian (Anderson) and (series creator) Chris (Carter).”

“I’m assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now,” Duchovny continued. “We’ll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can’t nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We’re all old, we don’t have the energy for a full season,” he added with a laugh.

News of a limited series, or even how about an X-Files made-for-TV movie, sounds about right as David Duchovny is also starring in a new NBC series with Aquarius.

Likewise, Duchovny’s X-Files co-star, Gillian Anderson, is currently involved with NBC’s Hannibal.

Fox May Revive X-Files With David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:18781:]]

It’s learned that Fox is considering bringing back X-Files with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

The good news comes from Fox Television Group chairman Gary Newman who confirmed talks are underway at the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour.

“It’s been reported, and it’s true, that we’ve had some conversations about [reviving] X-Files” [ideally with David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson],” Newman said, reports TV Line. “But I have nothing that we can announce at this time.”

X-Files ran for 9 seasons with 202 episodes and two movies, which kicked off back in 1993.

There has also been talk of an X-Files 3 for quite a while, but series creator, Chris Carter, said it was up to Fox.

Gillian Anderson is currently involved with NBC’s Hannibal, and David Duchovny has a show coming out on NBC as well with Aquarius, so it remains to be seen whether they would be involved in any new X-Files.

Both actors have said at one time or another they would like more X-Files movies, but could Fox be considering a new X-Files TV series?
