AMC Releases The Walking Dead 2015 Comic-Con Poster

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21134:]]

Check out the Comic-Con banner poster AMC has released for The Walking Dead which looks to suggest warring factions in Alexandria for Season 6.

The Season 5 finale saw Morgan reunited with Rick, but the two now seem to have opposite roles as Morgan seems to be taking a zen-like approach while Rick is taking an eye-for-an eye approach.

The series returns this October to AMC.

Update: Higher-res version released:

Michael Keaton to Star In and Produce “Imagine Agents” at Fox

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21123:]]

Award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios is excited to reveal that Michael Keaton (Birdman, Batman) will star in and produce a film adaptation at 20th Century Fox of the comic series Imagine Agents, created by Brian Joines.

Written by Brian Joines (Krampus) and illustrated by Bachan (Rocket Salvage), Imagine Agents is the story of two agents who work for clandestine organization I.M.A.G.I.N.E. to keep kids’ imaginary friends under control. Little do they know that an abandoned “friend” from long ago is about to disrupt the status quo and turn everything upside down. The series was published from October 2013 to January 2014, with a collected edition released in December 2014.

Imagine Agents has been the most rewarding project I’ve worked on and the fact it’s going to be a movie with Michael Keaton, whose work had a huge impact on my teenaged years and indirectly played a role in my decision to become a writer, is just a mind-blowing continuation of that reward,” said Joines.

BOOM! has a first-look feature film deal at 20th Century Fox that includes first-dollar gross on films based on any of its comics, which the publisher splits with its creators.

BOOM! Studios Founder and Chief Executive Officer Ross Richie will produce the film with Keaton and Anonymous Content’s Michael Sugar. President of Development Stephen Christy will executive produce with Anonymous Content’s Eli Selden. Senior Vice President of Film Adam Yoelin will co-produce in cooperation with Anonymous Content’s Ashley Zalta.

Keaton, best known for his roles in Beetlejuice and Batman,  is coming off his award-nominated performance as washed-up superhero actor Riggan Thomson in New Regency Pictures’ Birdman and is currently filming The Founder, a biopic about Ray Kroc, the founder of the McDonald’s fast-food chain.

Stephen Amell Teases Arrow Season 4 & More

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21096:]]

Stephen Amell took to Twitter to answer some fans questions which saw the actor tease Arrow Season 4, mention the WWE and his latest movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 as well as answer a question about Batman Vs. Superman.

While WB TV is set to have an Arrow panel at next month’s Comic-Con, Amell stated he isn’t sure if he will be able to attend (assumed because of filming on TMNT 2).

Regarding Arrow Season 4, Amell replied to a fan’s question regarding the first episode with, “What’s wrong Speedy?”

For Batman Vs. Superman, Amell was questioned who would win between the two, with Amell choosing Aquaman and Jason Momoa.

Jesse Eisenberg Confirms He’ll Be at Comic-Con For Batman Vs. Superman (Video)

While obviously Jesse Eisenberg can’t say much about Batman Vs. Superman, the Lex Luthor actor does confirm an appearance at next month’s Comic-Con.

In the video above, Eisenberg states he will be at Comic-Con, and that: “I think we go in and out. There for the hour, and then I’m on the stage.”

It’s probably safe to assume with Eisenberg appearing at Comic-Con that Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot will be in attendance once again. It’s also possible Jason Momoa and the rest of the Batman Vs. Superman cast may be in attendance as well.

Last year saw Zack Snyder release the Batman Vs. Superman teaser with Affleck, Cavill and Gadot present.

Jesse Eisenberg also recently stated his Lex Luthor will be different than the Gene Hackman version.

The Batman Vs. Superman panel takes place Saturday night, July 11th in Hall H at Comic-Con, which runs July 8-12 in San Diego.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21071:]]

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has a March 25, 2016 release starring Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg with Callan Mulvey, Holly Hunter and Tao Okamoto in new character roles for the film. Justice League is to follow directed by Zack Snyder as well.

Synopsis:

Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.

Paramount Skipping Comic-Con, Too

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21064:]]

In addition to Marvel Studios skipping out on Comic-Con, it’s become known Paramount will not be hosting a panel in Hall H as well.

The reason cited, according to THR, is that the studios decided the timing isn’t right for them when it comes to their upcoming releases.

Regarding Paramount, they have no new Transformers movie currently in the works and Star Trek 3 is yet to kick off, though they could have done something for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2; however, it’s still year out from the movie’s release. Terminator: Genisys also opens a week prior to Comic-Con, and the next Mission Impossible opens July 31st; so Paramount could have at least had something, but chose not to.

The same goes for Marvel, as Marvel could easily have done something for Ant-Man, which opens a week following Comic-Con, and Captain America: Civil War is currently filming; Doctor Strange is also in the works. It is being speculated Disney may be holding Marvel out for its own big announcement event, similar to last October’s Avengers: Infinity announcement.

While Marvel Studios and Paramount won’t be there, Warner Bros. will be there on Saturday night with their Batman Vs. Superman and Justice League panel.

In addition, Lionsgate announced they are bringing The Hunger Games and The Last Witch Hunter to the SDCC as well.

Disney has confirmed Star Wars for Friday, and Legendary and Fox Studios are expected to be there, with Sony putting up a Pride and Prejudice and Zombies panel through its Screen Gems label.

While Marvel Studios will not be attending, both Marvel Comics and Marvel TV (Agents Of SHIELD, Agent Carter) will be at the convention.

Comic-Con takes place July 8-12 in San Diego.

No Marvel Studios Stated Again For Comic-Con; Batman Vs Superman May Be Big

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20905:]]

Confirming what James Gunn said back in March, now Deadline is stating that Marvel Studios will not have a presentation in Hall H at Comic-Con.

The report mentions that “Kevin Feige just doesn’t have anything new to show,” which is a rather odd statement as Marvel has Ant-Man opening the following week in addition to Marvel filming Captain America: Civil War and plans for Doctor Strange to be released in 2016, with filming to begin later this year.

There is also the fact that Marvel could have revealed their new Spider-Man at Comic-Con.

More than likely, Disney is holding back Marvel Studios from Comic-Con for either their own event, similar to the Avengers: Infinity War announcement with Black Panther at El Capitan theater from last year, or the Disney D23 Expo a month after Comic-Con in August.

It is noted that Marvel Studios’ absence will leave Warner Bros. with, potentially, a significant presence of its own as Batman Vs. Superman, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and Justice League Part 1 are lined up. It’s possible Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto and others may be at Comic-Con representing the DC movies.

For Marvel fans, while Marvel Studios will not be at the SDCC, Marvel Comics will be there with a booth and panels of their own.

Comic-Con takes place July 9-12 in San Diego.

Doctor Strange Comic-Con Action Figure Set Revealed

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20876:]]

With Marvel Studios launching a Doctor Strange movie next year comes word of a Hasbro exclusive Comic-Con Doctor Strange Marvel Legends action figure set, which is actually based on the comics.

The set will be available at this Summer’s Comic-Con for $99.99 and available through the online Hasbro Shop for a limited time.

The set includes 6-inch figures for Doctor Strange in his blue astral form, Brother Voodoo, the mutant sorceress Magik, the Asgardian goddess of death Hela, Strange’s arch nemesis – and ruler of the Dark Dimension – the dreaded Dormammu, and a wearable Eye of Agamotto (via USA Today).

Last year’s Comic-Con saw Marvel Cosmic figures sold for Thanos Imperative and The Infinity Gauntlet, which now cost a pretty penny, so if you attend Comic-Con this year, the Doctor Strange set might be worth picking up if just for resale value alone.

Comic-Con runs July 8-12th.

I also think the show runners really want to move it forward. So it’s going to be set in L.A., and it’s 10 episodes. It’s going to be a very glamorous, dark world of 1940s Los Angeles.

Here is the description for Agent Carter Season 2 as well:

Big Things Were Planned For Harley Quinn In Arrow

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20726:]]

What could have been…

Season 2 of Arrow featured a cameo by Harley Quinn played by Cassidy Alexa, with the deleted scene (watch below) featuring Tara Strong’s voice as well.

Now while appearing at the MCM London Comic-Con this weekend, Willa Holland, who plays Thea Queen, let it be known big things were planned for Harley Quinn in Arrow.

“We had big plans for Harley,” Willa Holland revealed, reports Flickering Myth. “But, I guess something came down from DC execs that told us to shut it down. I mean we had that tease with the pigtails and the ARGUS outfit but, we’ll never see it. We would love to [have] Harley in Arrow but it will never happen.”

Obviously, what came down was Harley Quinn being a member of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie, which is what happened with Arrow‘s version of Deadshot as well. Arrow EP Marc Guggenheim revealed a couple of months ago that Deadshot was off the table.

That’s not the only character the WB execs axed – originally, Brandon Routh’s Atom was going to be Blue Beetle, but WB said no to using Blue Beetle and suggested Atom.

It will be interesting to see what happens when The Flash movie gets going.

NYCC 2015 Ticket Purchase Equals Epic Failure

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20525:]]

Today at noon, NYCC 2015 tickets went on sale – well, sorta.

The NYCC people earlier sent out an e-mail with a link to buy tickets.

I checked the link, and it said to return at noon ET.

A couple of minutes prior to noon, I checked it again and the complete website was down with a “Not found (error to origin)” error.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20523:]]

For the heck of it, I google-cached the site, which also threw up an XML error.

I then proceeded to the NYCC Twitter where they tweeted out not to use the NYCC website, but a different link, which took users to showclix.com (why didn’t they set up a redirect from NYCC to showclix?).

However, showclix.com is just as big as a failure as users are put in the queue to purchase tickets, but when the browser is autmatically redirected – it results in a Time-Out error. That means it’s taking too long for the server to communicate, so it times out and throws up an error code resulting in no tickets.

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20524:]]

I’ve already refreshed two different browsers (desktop and mobile) with the same error happening.

I’m guessing showclix.com may have needed to increase their timeout redirective as it seems set at around 30 seconds. Of course, the site is getting slammed with heavy traffic, which is probably more the reason for the failure.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why these Comic-Con people can’t get this stuff straight. I think this happens every year. Hire a programmer to run some tests. Hire a programmer to run a dummy-user test to see how much load the server can handle. This is inexusable.

I’m also guessing they don’t want to go the ticketmaster route as the Comic-Con people don’t want to fork out the fees.

Talk about frustating. I’m still waiting…. As are others.

Henry Cavill Attends CinemaCon: Talks Batman Vs. Superman

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:20170:]]

Prior to teaming with Ben Affleck in Batman Vs. Superman, Henry Cavill is teaming with the 2008 Justice League Batman, Armie Hammer, for The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

Both Cavill and Hammer were in attendance in Las Vegas for the WB presentation.

Regarding Batman Vs. Superman, Cavill stated, in the below video, he might be attending Comic-Con this July, but noted “things can change” with a a smile. Cavill also side-stepped questioning in regards to how Batman Vs. Superman was different than filming Man of Steel. Man From UNCLE co-star Armie Hammer then asked Cavill about working with Ben Affleck, with Cavill replying, he is “very excited, actually.” The two then went on to joke about not answering any more questions.

Update: A second video of Cavill from the event has surfaced (see below) where he offers he has seen just a little bit more of the Batman Vs. Superman footage, but says it wasn’t much as it was in black-and-white. Cavill also says he wouldn’t call it a Superman sequel: “This is Batman versus Superman. It’s a separate entity altogether. It’s introducing the Batman character and expanding upon the universe, which was kicked off by Man of Steel. It’s definitely an introduction to the character and ultimately an introduction to Justice League.”

At the WB presentation, Warner Bros. Chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujijara spoke to the exhibitors reiterating WB’s plans to release ten DC Comic book movies starting with 2016’s Batman Vs. Superman with more movies all the way to 2020. Tsujijara also made mention of the recently announced three LEGO movies and also said at least three Harry Potter spinoffs of the Fantastic Beasts series will be released, with the first due out November 2016. Following the presentation, the Batman Vs. Superman trailer was shown to the audience.

“While tentpoles and franchises are important to us and to you they are just one part of what we do. We’re also very excited about the wide variety of comedies, dramas, action adventures and horror films that we’re making,” Tsujijara said. “These films allow us to reach broad and underserved audiences and they create the opportunity for breakout hits like The Lego Movie, The Conjuring and that little film that exceeded everyone’s expectations, American Sniper… We’re committed to bringing you great films throughout the year, not just the summer and holidays…this time next year I will be here, or somebody who replaces me, will be talking about the great success we had with Pan in October.”

“The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” has an August 14, 2015 release; “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” hits March 25, 2016.

The new service is being described as a year-round online experience for long time fans and emerging audiences worldwide that will launch with a broad portfolio of content including original short-form content created exclusively for the channel’s subscribers, films and television series from Lionsgate and other studios designed to appeal to the diverse interests of Comic-Con’s fan base as well as exclusive archived footage from Comic-Con’s 45-year history.  As part of the new channel, the two companies will also work closely to make the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival (CCI-IFF) a 365-day-a-year online event.

Last year 17 of the top 20 North American box office blockbusters had a presence at the Comic-Con Convention along with iconic television series such as The Walking Dead and American Horror Story.  Comic-Con International has grown from 300 attendees in the basement of San Diego’s U.S. Grant Hotel in 1970 to well over 130,000 fans from around the world last year, marking its evolution into a staple of popular culture and the longest-running comics and popular arts convention in America.  Badges for this year’s Comic-Con sold out in 60 minutes.

“We’re thrilled that the biggest pop culture event of the year will become a year-round digital channel for Comic-Con fans and audiences around the world,” said Lionsgate President of Worldwide Television & Digital Distribution Jim Packer. “The fan base for the kind of films and television series showcased at Comic-Con has grown exponentially, and a subscription video-on-demand service is the ideal platform to capture the magic and excitement of the Comic-Con experience year-round as well as the perfect vehicle for Comic-Con fans to discover new content.”

Reflecting the tremendous interest in the diverse roster of comics, films and television series showcased at Comic-Con International each year, the two companies plan to roll out the new service beginning with the U.S. later this year.

“From the beginning of our discussions, nearly two years ago, we have been extremely impressed with Lionsgate’s embracing and understanding of fan culture,” said Comic-Con’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations David Glanzer. “Working with our Lionsgate partners has been an exciting exercise in finding great ways to expand our horizons to deliver the unique magic of Comic-Con and the celebration of comics and popular art to our fans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and around the world.”

“As a next generation studio, Lionsgate has grown up with Comic-Con, and their fans are our audiences,” said Lionsgate President of Interactive Ventures & Games Peter Levin. “We’re excited by the opportunity to expand and enrich the world of Comic-Con for existing fans and extend it to a whole new global audience with a channel distinguished by its imaginative curation, depth and diversity of content and fierce loyalty to the Comic-Con brand.”

Originally showcasing comic books, film and fantasy literature, Comic-Con has grown to also encompass science fiction, horror, animation, anime, manga, toys, collectibles, video games, interactive multimedia, webcomics, fantasy novels and other aspects of pop culture. In addition to San Diego Comic-Con International, the new subscription video-on-demand service will also have exclusive access to the archives of sister convention WonderCon.

The new Comic-Con International channel is the third streaming service to be launched or announced by Lionsgate as the Company continues to build its suite of online platforms to deliver content directly to consumers. Lionsgate also recently launched the Lionsgate Entertainment World platform with the Alibaba Group in China and has announced the planned launch this summer of Tribeca Shortlist, a subscription video-on-demand service for film aficionados in partnership with Tribeca Enterprises.
