Ghostbusters Reboot Confirmed By Drew Pearce

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21550:]]

In addition to the Paul Feig female Ghostbusters, it’s confirmed Sony is developing a second Ghostbusters reboot.

While presently unknown if the two Ghostbusters movies will be in the same universe, Mission Impossible and Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce confirms he has finished the script.

“Obviously it’s top secret, but there’s a gigantic bold idea that I came up with,” Pearce told MTV. “And the Russo brothers — who did Captain America: The Winter Soldier and are doing Civil War at the moment — and Ivan Reitman, who did the original movie, are going to take that and run with it. Obviously I cannot tell you what it is, but hopefully in one year’s time you’ll know!”

Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt have been mentioned as possibilities for the new Ghostbusters, with Pearce confirming the idea – at least – is to use them.

“That’s definitely the cast we’ve been thinking about as we approach the project,” Pearce offered. “Whether that happens or not is very much above my pay grade. It’s just my job to give them something exciting that maybe they’ll do.”

Regarding the shared Ghostbusters universe, Pearce says he wants it to happen.

“My personal inclination is to try and make everything occur in the same ’Ghostbusters’ universe, because I feel, as a fan, that’s what I would want,” Perace said. “Standing here in New York, you just wanna tie it all together. Whether that happens or not we’ll see, but I’ve certainly given them the tools to do that, I hope.”

Paul Feig’s previously mentioned he is not involved with the new Ghostbusters (male-led) reboot.

Images surfaced on the “Russo Bros” Twitter account (unknown if official) possibly teasing a red and black Spider-Man costume.

In addition, it appears as if the “Sokovia Accord” is the movie version of the Civil War superhero registration act, as Sokovia was the city destroyed in Avengers 2.

Some of the other images appear to tease Peter Parker’s high school, the Ten Rings and possibly Spider-Man’s camera.

Joe Quesda, Marvel’s CCO, recently stated the new Spider-Man costume is awesome and that it will blow people away.

Male-Driven Ghostbusters With Channing Tatum & Russo Bros. Being Developed

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:19570:]]

In addition to the all-female Ghostbusters, Sony is also developing a male-driven Ghostbusters movie.

Deadline reports Anthony and Joe Russo, who just signed a first-look deal with Sony, look to be attached to direct and produce the new male Ghostbusters movie, with Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce penning the script.

Channing Tatum is also set to be onboard as a producer, with it likely that Tatum will star as one of the new Ghostbusters as well (recently leaked Sony e-mails revealed Tatum was interested in Ghostbusters along with Chris Pratt).

It’s further reported that Sony has plans to expand the Ghostbusters franchise as a “Ghostcorps” – a new production company – is being formed to oversee the franchise, which will have original director Ivan Reitman and Dan Aykroyd involved (more than likely Aykroyd will be featured in the new Ghostbusters).

The female Ghostbusters movie will launch July 2016 and marks the start of the new franchise from director Paul Feig starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong and Leslie Jones.

“We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment,” Reitman said. “This is a branded entertainment, a scary supernatural premise mixed with comedy. Paul Feig’s film will be the first version of that, shooting in June to come out in July 2016. He’s got four of the funniest women in the world, and there will be other surprises to come. The second film has a wonderful idea that builds on that. Drew will start writing and the hope is to be ready for the Russo Brothers’ next window next summer to shoot, with the movie coming out the following year. It’s just the beginning of what I hope will be a lot of wonderful movies.”
