12 MONKEYS follows the journey of Cole, a time traveler sent back in time from a dark, hellish future to prevent it from ever happening. Joining forces in the present with Dr. Railly, Cole must defeat a centuries-old malevolent organization known as the Army of the 12 Monkeys. As Cole, Railly and their unlikely allies get closer to the truth, they’ll learn there are deadly consequences for all of history … and time itself.

Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett (“Nikita”) are executive producers and showrunners, with Charles Roven (“Batman v. Superman,” “Suicide Squad,” “American Hustle,” “The Dark Knight Trilogy”) and Richard Suckle (“Suicide Squad,” “American Hustle,” “The International”) as executive producers. Atlas Entertainment and Roven produced the original film of “12 Monkeys,” which starred Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt and Madeline Stowe, on which the series is based.

SyFy Announces Premiere Dates For 12 Monkeys & Hunters

Syfy has announced the premiere dates for the first season of HUNTERS and the second season of 12 MONKEYS, both produced by Universal Cable Productions (in association with Valhalla Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment, respectively).

In HUNTERS, when Baltimore FBI agent Flynn Carroll’s (Nathan Phillips, “Wolf Creek”) wife goes missing, his search leads him to a highly-classified government organization – the Exo-Terrorism Unit (ETU) – who track and fight alien terrorists.  Britne Oldford (“American Horror Story”) plays Regan, a valuable ETU operative keeping secrets of her own. The gritty sci-fi thriller also stars Julian McMahon (“Nip/Tuck”) as the dangerously unhinged terrorist, McCarthy.  The 13-episode first season debutsMonday, April 11 at 10PM ET/PT.

HUNTERS is from executive producers Gale Anne Hurd (“The Walking Dead,” “The Terminator Trilogy”) and Natalie Chaidez (“12 Monkeys,” “Heroes”), who will also serve as showrunner, and Emile Levisetti (“Royal Pains”). The series is inspired by best-selling author Whitley Strieber’s novel, Alien Hunter.

Syfy’s critically-acclaimed time-travel thriller 12 MONKEYS will return for a second season on Monday, April 18 at 9PM ET/PT. This all-new 13-episode season will air Mondays, with Aaron Stanford (James Cole), Amanda Schull (Dr. Cassandra Railly), Kirk Acevedo (Ramse), Emily Hampshire (Jennifer Goines), Barbara Sukowa (Katarina Jones) and Todd Stashwick (Deacon) reprising their roles.

SyFy Greenlights 12 Monkeys Season 2

SyFy uncages more 12 Monkeys as the network has ordered a second season.

The critically acclaimed time traveling thriller from Universal Cable Productions will return for Season 2 in 2016.

With Natalie Chaidez prepping her next Syfy series (UCP and Valhalla Productions’ Hunters), Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett (Nikita), co-executive producers and writers of the pilot, will be stepping up to serve as EP/Showrunners. Atlas Entertainment’s Richard Suckle (Suicide Squad, American Hustle, The International) and Charles Roven (Suicide Squad, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, American Hustle) will continue to executive produce with Atlas’ Jake Kurily producing. Roven served as producer on the original film.

Currently in its first season, 12 Monkeys has reached 15 million viewers to date, and is experiencing record L3 lifts for the network (average L3 lift is 104%). The renewal also comes as the series continues to gain momentum, with its most recent episode (Friday, March 6) seeing an increase of 6% over the prior four weeks, with 1.5 million total viewers.

“We are absolutely committed to 12 Monkeys, and have been incredibly impressed by the outstanding critical and audience praise the series has earned,” said Dave Howe, Syfy President. “The talent both on and off-screen have delivered a series that has us all on the edge of our seats, providing exactly the smart, exciting storytelling Syfy is known for.”

12 Monkeys stars Aaron Stanford (Nikita, X-Men: The Last Stand, X2), Amanda Schull (Suits, Center Stage) and Kirk Acevedo (Fringe, Oz, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes).

In this Friday’s episode* – the ninth in the 13-part first season – Cole (Aaron Stanford) finds himself in 2017 at the height of the plague. Out of options, Jones (Barbara Sukowa) faces an impossible choice to replace the Core. 12 Monkeys airs Fridays at 9PM ET/PT; the season one finale will air Friday, April 10.

SyFy will be airing an all-day marathon for 12 Monkeys and Helix on President’s Day, Monday, February 16th running from 9am ET to 7pm ET.

Here is the schedule of episodes:

9:00 – 10:00 AM  Helix – “San Jose”

Peter Farragut, Sarah Jordan and Dr. Kyle Sommer go to a mysterious island to investigate an unknown pathogen that killed everyone, except Leila, aboard the Mist of Avalon.

10:00 – 11:00 AM Helix – “Reunion”

Jordan discovers Alan, Peter’s brother, is a member of Brother Michael’s cult, but despite Alan’s warnings she and Peter refuse to leave the Abbey and continue to investigate how Soren became infected.

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM  Helix – “Scion”

Peter and Jordan leave the safety of the Abbey to retrieve some specimens and discover just what’s living in the woods, meanwhile Sister Amy plots to make them leave forever.

12:00 – 1:00 PM  Helix – “Densho”

Michael tries to maintain control over his Sisters and the Abby while Alan becomes increasingly suspicious about Peter’s real motivation for being there.

Peter reveals his brother’s secret and gets them both in trouble, meanwhile Kyle has his hands full trying to quarantine the orchard and the infected hive.

Twenty seven years after a virus wipes out most of humanity, scientists send a man (James Cole) back to 2015 to stop the plague from ever happening.  Cole’s only lead is a virologist (Dr. Cassandra Railly), who knows the dangerous source of the outbreak.

3:00 – 4:00 PM 12 Monkeys — “Mentally Divergent”

The trail of a mysterious organization called the “Army of the 12 Monkeys” leads Cole to a mental institution in 2015, where a patient (Jennifer Goines) holds the key to the plague that destroys the world.

4:00 – 5:00 PM 12 Monkeys – “Cassandra Complex”

A search for the location of the virus leads Cole to 2014, when a dangerous outbreak in Haiti was once a devastating moment in Dr. Railly’s life.

5:00 – 6:00 PM 12 Monkeys – “Atari”

A fight for the future ensues when a dangerous band of marauders hunting for Cole and Ramse threatens the mission. 

6:00 – 7:00 PM 12 Monkeys – “The Night Room”

Cole and Dr. Railly face off with the Army of the 12 Monkeys when both discover the Night Room – an off-site, black ops lab that houses the virus that will one day destroy the world.

SyFy’s 12 Monkeys Premiers Tonight: Watch 20 Minutes Of Previews

SyFy‘s 12 Monkeys is set to premiere tonight at 9pm ET.
