Details are learned about the new Krypton TV series from Superman’s grandfather, Seg-El, played by Cameron Cuffe who tells CTV’s eTalk the series takes place two generations before Kal-El rockets off into space and agrees with comparisons to Superman meets Game of Thrones.

I think we’ve built this world which is so exciting on so may levels. There is loads of action. There is a lot of political drama as well as personal drama. There is a lot going on in the show.

Seg grew up in quite a prominent family, one of the great houses of Krypton, which very early in the story is thrown away from the light and cast him down to the lowest cast in society.  So we have this once mighty legacy, which has sort of been thrown into the mud, and he is trying to survive and trying to regain that honor that has been taken from him.

It’s also reported that Krypton will be filming in Northern Ireland at Belfast Harbour Studios, which is where Game of Thrones also filmed.

Syfy’s Krypton, the much-anticipated Superman prequel set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet, will follow Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

Krypton will be executive produced by David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Dark Knight trilogy) through his Phantom Four banner. Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) will serve as executive producer/showrunner; Colm McCarthy (She Who Brings Gifts, Peaky Blinders) is set to direct and co-executive produce the pilot. The pilot teleplay and story is written by David S. Goyer & Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). Krypton will be produced by Warner Horizon Television and is based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, published by DC Comics.
