Zachary Quinto, who is known for various Hollywood roles including playing Spock in the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movies, has been blasted by a Toronto restaurant for being a “terrible customer.”

Apparently what happened is that Quinto had a reservation for a table at Manita, which is a small “neighborhood cafe, grocery and bar,” but when Quinto didn’t reply to numerous texts that his table was ready, the restaurant gave his table to other customers and none of the other tables were available.

So when Zachary Quinto finally ended up showing up and discovered he didn’t have a table, he became irate with the staff.

“We aren’t above criticism, but we are above being demeaned”

“Zachary Quinto – an amazing Spock, but a terrible customer,” posted the restaurant on Instagram. “Yelled at our staff like an entitled child after he didn’t reply to two texts to inform him his table was ready and refused to believe the empty tables in the dining room weren’t available for him despite being politely informed they were spoken for.”

Manita continued, “Made our host cry and the rest of our brunch diners uncomfortable. Mr. Quinto, take your bad vibes somewhere else, we have many lovely celebrities join us at Manita but you are NOT one of them.”

The restaurant added in the post, “To expand upon yesterday’s story re: Zachary Quinto: This isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last time an irate guest has taken their frustrations out on our staff. Manita is deeply grateful for our mostly incredible, friendly, gracious guests … who may give us constructive feedback from time to time.”

Manita added, “To all the other Zachary Quintos out there, on behalf of restaurant workers everywhere: We aren’t above criticism, but we are above being demeaned.”

Fans react

The restaurant’s and Zachary Quinto’s Instagram pages are filled with comments from fans in support of Manita. Quinto, whose birthday is on June 2, has yet to publicly comment and may have actually been at the restaurant to celebrate his birthday, which is June 2nd.

“Heard you’re mean to servers!!” said one fan on Quinto’s latest post.

Another fan added, “The way someone treats staff and others is usually a great way to see someone’s true character. Apparently yours is pretty crappy! Get over yourself.”

Ontario Small Business Community told the actor: “This is such a nice song. Could you kindly apologize to the local and independent restaurants you terrorized this weekend? See we said your song is nice, even if it is not because there is no reason to be mean. Similarly, there is no reason to be mean, rude and well awful to local Toronto Ontario small and independent businesses. Oh and their hardworking staff. We get it, being hangry is a problem but that’s your problem. Not the staff and small businesses you were awful to. So an apology please, would really go a long way to smoothing over this unfortunate and distasteful situation. Thanks and welcome to Ontario Canada. We like and respect our small businesses here. You should try it sometime, it feels wonderful.”

“This song could make a host cry. Oh wait – that’s just your normal behavior!” said another fan.

Another said, “Happy pride to everyone except Zachary quinto who is mean to service workers!!!”
