Hackers have aquired a copy of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and are holding it ransom demanding a large payment of BitCoin from Disney.
The hackers are said to have threatened to release bits of the movie in increments if the BitCoin ransom is not paid.
Itâs presently unknown how the hackers aquired the copy of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, but a former hacker fills in Deadline they probably got it from a less secure company outside of Disney, such as a vendor, smaller production company, etc.
Netflix suffered from a similar BitCoin ransom which saw 10 episodes of Orange Is The New Black released online. Netflix didnât pay the ransom.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales opens in ten days, so it remains to be seen how the release of the movie online will affect sales.
