It's learned there will be no Aqualad in the upcoming Aquaman movie, which shouldn't be too surprising.
A fan on Twitter asked director James Wan about Aqualad, which saw Wan reference Batman and Robin.
"How about we get Batman established properly first, before we cram in Robin," Wan replied.
Now before people take Wan's response out of context, what James Wan really means is how about they establish Aquaman first before bringing in Aqualad.
Aqualad does happen to be the son of Black Manta, so it's possible down the line they could always introduce Aqualad at some point in the DCEU, as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is playing Black Manta in Aquaman.
Aquaman has an October 5, 2018 release starring Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm the Ocean Master, Wilem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, with Nicole Kidman rumored as Atlanna, mother to Aquaman, and Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, father to Aquaman.
