New Superman David Corenswet Is Massive

Check out a before and after of new Superman David Corenswet who is now just massive compared to months prior.

The actor who is listed at 6′ 4″ has packed on the pounds to become the new Man of Steel for James Gunn.

A before and after image has surfaced on Reddit which has over 2800 upvotes shows an image of David Corenswet from around May of 2023 and then another from this past November.

Worth a mention is it’s three months after that, so Corenswet could be even larger in size or maybe he first bulked up to put on size and with the start of filming happening soon, has cut back to achieve a more chiseled look.

Prior Superman Henry Cavill is listed at 6’1″ but it’s safe to say that Corenswet looks a lot bigger than Cavill did in Man of Steel.

Corenswet actually looks twice his size (Isabela Merced also shows off her muscles):

Inspired by All-Star Superman

James Gunn recently said his Superman: Legacy is in part inspired by the DC Comics All-Star Superman story from Grant Morrison; David Corenswet looks a lot like that version of Superman.

“We’re talked a lot about Woman of Tomorrow, but these are more of the comics inspiring #DCStudios and the new #DCU in these early days,” Gunn tweeted. “That doesn’t mean we’re adapting all these comics, but that the feel, the look, or the tone of them are touchstones for our team. Check ’em out!

The David Corenswet Superman is a big galoot

Gunn also previously described his Superman as a big galoot which seems to fit with the look of the actor as well.

“He’s a big ol’ galoot. He’s a farmboy from Kansas who’s very idealistic. His greatest weakness is that he’ll never kill anybody,” said Gunn. “He doesn’t want to hurt a living soul. I like that sort of innate goodness about Superman; it’s his defining characteristic. He’s not ‘All-Star Superman,’ but again, I’m a huge fan of ‘All-Star Superman,’ and I’m very inspired by [that series].”
