Netflix has released the synopsis for the upcoming Terminator: The Anime Series which reveals it’s a twist on the first movie that was released in 1984.
The Terminator movie features Michael Biehn’s Kyle Reese travelling back in time to stop Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator from killing Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor.
Well, Terminator: The Anime Series sees a female soldier traveling back in time to save a presumed Black scientist from a Terminator (wonder if it will be a blond white dude?).
Will Terminator: The Anime Series be woke?
Yeah, of course, the alarm bells are going off as the synopsis for Terminator: The Anime Series sounds pretty woke, and we know how switching things up worked for the recent Terminator movies (Dark Fate also features a female soldier going back in time), in addition to IPs like Doctor Who, Ghostbusters, Marvel, and Star Wars — worked out as in massive failures.
That said, the only hope I see is that Terminator: The Anime Series is from Mattson Tomlin who helped write Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
I’m not familiar with any of his other projects but I follow him on Twitter and he seems like a cool dude, so let’s hope Terminator: The Anime Series isn’t another bait-and-switch similar to how Kevin Smith ruined He-Man.
However, per the synopsis at least we know what’s coming regarding the Terminator Anime. Check out the official info below.
