Marvel actress and stuntwoman Carrie Bernans was seriously injured in NYC during an alleged hit-and-run that took place Monday morning at 1:30 am.
Bernans is known for the recent Color Purple movie, as well as voicing characters in the Spider-Man video games and her acting and stuntwork in Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, Infinity War, Black Panther, and Luke Cage.
The incident occurred at Chirp, a Peruvian restaurant in midtown Manhattan. The driver is said to have crashed into the outdoor dining shed of the restaurant then backed up and rammed into another car before officers swarmed the vehicle (via Deadline).
Carrie Bernans’ mother posted images and video showing the extent of the injuries, which are graphic in nature and said her daughter just finished surgery. She also said Carrie’s newborn baby son wasn’t involved and was safely back at the hotel.
“She’s still in so much pain and can’t answer calls at this time, but appreciate the messages. This was a traumatic incident. Please keep Carrie in your thoughts and prayers. She’s in so much pain but healing. She was involved in a traumatic incident in NYC where a man, early 40s was trying to escape a hit and run and ran into multiple cars before hitting a food stand that her friend & her were walking near,” the mother posted. “It ended up knocking her unconscious and pended her under the stand. She was under it unaware of what was happening.”
